Father v. Daughter in Morning Radio?

I don't know the answer MediaChubb.  But, I'll repost something I posted originally back on January 2nd:

"Rumor has it that Jon Robinson's female partner, Molly Caroll, on the WDYT-AM morning show is the daughter of WLYT's Jim Shafer.  It that is the case, Jim should be a proud father.

She's intelligent, has strong opinions and does not back down when challenged by Robinson or anyone else.  Best of all, she's not the giggling "bubble-headed bleach blonde" type that seems to inhabit so many morning radio shows these days, including that great colossus of the South...WBT.

Congrats to Danny Fontana, Bo Thompson and crew on a real find".

Kinda ironic, though, that Jim's daughter replaced his longtime radio partner Liz Luke on WDYT. Even before "Magic", didn't Jim and Liz have a morning show on the old 96.9 WTDR? I wonder if THEY have thought about that?

I remember back in the early 90's when it was 'Thunder 96.9' before it became 'Country 96.9.' Seems like Liz Luke was on there too. Check out this article from the Charlotte Business Journal about a brush with fame Liz had while she was News Director at Magic 96.1.... :D http://charlotte.bizjournals.com/charlotte/stories/1998/08/10/tidbits.html

When I read about her going to the new 1220 WDYT Think Radio, I thought it was pretty cool, and I enjoyed hearing her in the mornings with Jon Robinson. However, after hearing Molly Carroll, and checking out some of their archived interviews from their website... http://www.1220wdyt.com/audio I do believe that the bar has been raised for morning talk in this town.

Hey Eric! You're right about Jim & Liz doing a show together before. They had great chemistry! (CLT circa: 1994) The station was "Thunder" and it kicked WSOC's ass for a few books! Was a fun battle to watch while working in radio in CLT during that time since I didn't work for either one! That's very cool about Jim's daughter getting the gig. I think it's an honor to have your children follow you into the same industry, and then be successful! (see: Archie Manning's pride about Payton and Eli)
