Favorite Songs You Never Hear On Radio Anymore

"Sausalito Summernight" - Yes! that song is overdue for a revival
"Industrial Disease"- Dire Straits
"Let's Go" - The Cars
"She's Tight" Cheap Trick
"Screaming For Vengeance" Judas Priest
"Keep it Tight" Single Bullet Theory
"City's Burnin" Heart
"Enough is Enough" April Wine

After spending way too much time pouring over everyone's lists, I've come up with several that haven't been mentioned:
Go Back-Crabby Appleton
I'm On Fire-Dwight Twilley
Evil Woman(Don't Play Your Games with Me)-Crow

And I'm still scratching my head in befuddlement over an original poster's assertion that Sweet's Ballroom Blitz is neither rock or classic. I mean, come on, a drum riff that dominates the record like a lead instrument, screaming(in key!)four part harmonies, crunching guitars. More hooks than a tackle box. I mean, if that's not pertinent criteria, then what is?
I've been told by a young PD with no sense of history or understanding of the glam rock era to NOT play it on-air. Oh well, radio's loss has certainly been Madison Avenue's gain on that one!

Heard "Lowdown" by Chicago overhead at Walgreen last night. When was the last time you heard that on the radio? Or "Free," also from Chicago III?

wow, this thread is real cool :). opened me up to a whole bunch of songs i have never heard before. i garrentee you will never hear this on whtq here in orlando. some of those songs listed on here are played on radio here but not much... anyway, all i have to say is internet radio, music choice on cable and satelite radio :).

I visited a Subway store today and there was something cool sounding on, then "Relax", came on..... I had ny suspicisons, so I asked "Is that a local radio station you're palying ?" Then the answer came : "No, it's Satellite".

Well, OF COURSE it was satellite......

Our local stations just regurgitate c-r-a-p all the day long.....

Stranglehold, Foxey Lady, .... and all of the other pablum for those with the cheapest of tastes..... :D

I have to say we lost JACK that was differerent that the nomal format we lost all 80s music they would play wait not all 80s music but no psychedelic fur,the clash, Dream academy. we still have 5 stations playing AC/DC the same every ohter hour . we need AOR I miss it I like all rock whether it modern, Mainstrean and Heavy Metal but KJFX,KKBZ the Blaze repeat the same songs every F**KING day . I going to have a beer and listen to my CDs KKDJ 105.9 back in the 80s played music.I am not done I will post more . now that a think of in nobody plays New England, UFO, Alan parsons, Tesla,
I tired of all these stations 200 song playlist.

Well for my opinions on this topic check out the Central California board on no more 80s and no more JACK and more.

Well I just went through the 18 pages here and no one mentioned:

Humble Pie
Ten Years After The Deram years had many good songs. "50,000 Miles" being one.
Savoy Brown (one mention but there are so many good songs in the Simmonds/Youlden years)
Foghat - Sarah Lee, Got To Get To Know You, Leavin' Again.
BTO - Gimme Your Money Please
Steppenwolf - Straight Shootin' Woman
Chilliwack - Lonesome Mary
Beck, Bogart & Appice - Black Cat Moan

Duke Jupiter gets played here in Rochester NY since they were based here but "I'll Drink To You" & "Little Lady" should be a staple of any station's playlist.

Julian Lennon - Valotte, Too Late for Goodbyes
Robert Cray Band - Smoking Gun
Joe Jackson - Friday
Bryan Adams - Somebody
Squeeze - Hourglass
Phil Collins - Billy Don't Lose My Number

And that's just off the top of my head without even thinking

It's a shame how thin and narrow most radio stations playlists have become...

It's been a while since I heard some Triumph on the radio, even Lay It On the Line. At least not here in Houston where KKRW is stuck primarly in the 70s. I know KZEP in San Antonio gave a good dose of 80s rock, don't know if that's the case since CC took over the station. VH1 Classic was showing the US '83 festival the other night and I was getting into the Triumph segment, as well as Judas Priest who was on previously.

Songs from Michael Murphey's Blue Sky – Night Thunder album.....

Like:

Track listing

"Wildfire"

"Carolina in the Pines"

"Blue Sky Riding Song"

But, that was back in the day when a NON-personality DJ that had a feel for good music --- without the Lowest Common Denominator Crude, just like you did, would play such songs for your enjoyment as an ACTIVE listener of music.

WHAT A CONCEPT.....

Which died with the rise of Corporatism
