To be honest, KPDO was a poor choice for many reasons: (1) It's on 89.3 which prevents any significant increase in coverage without causing interference, (2) the population base is way too small to make the economics work -- heck, KKUP in Cupertino can cover a huge number of people and yet they have to rely on all volunteers and handouts of equipment, etc. KKUP can reach about 1/2 million people. KPDO can reach 2,000 on a good day. (3) About half the population of Pescadero speaks Spanish as their main language, which would require KPDO to be bilingual in order to serve its audience. The only fully bilingual station I know of is KBBF in Santa Rosa, and they're bankrupt.
