FCC Fines WRTT 95.1 $225,000 for indecency violations from Go Fish Radio

Below is the link to the filing.

Here is the main part:

The FCC received a number of complaints concerning the programming aired on
radio station WRTT-FM after the filing of the petition. This programming may be
in violation of the FCC’s indecency rules and may result in a forfeiture liability
estimated to be $225,000.00

The Rocket had to fire the Go Fish Radio show. Apparently the Radio show had done a bit on Incest. They had a girl call in and say she would sleep with her uncle and it turned out to be a minor. This could also be pursued legally as a lewd act with a minor.

All I can say is WOW! $225K for one station and one broadcast! Seems waaaay excessive!
A unlit tower, which could cause death and destruction of property, is only a few thousand dollar fine. Termination of employment is absolutely the right step to take in this situation but I think it is absurd for the FCC to assign a fine of this magnitude for an on air indecency offense.

You can't fine someone for programming that "may" be in violation of the rules. This is just asking the bankruptcy court to allow them to collect the fine, if one is issued.

But yea, $225k for a tasteless bit is a bit much.

Unless I missed something.. they haven't been fined anything.. and this is an on-going issue. The FCC is just asking the bankruptcy judge to set aside the amount as a provision.. in case they are actually fined. Again, I could be wrong, but this is how I read it.

true. But I know the FCC. They usually act! I just saw several people asking why The Go Fish Show was taken off the air. I am sure that was a move to lower a fine that is on the way.

Yikes!

Well, these violations obviously wouldn't have happen if that whole Rick and Bubba situation didn't occurred back in late '07. Out of that situation is how the Go Fish Radio program was created to fill the void left by R&B.
