FCC investigating complaint against radio morning show host

The Federal Communications Commission is investigating a complaint that WQAM-AM 560 morning-show host Hank Goldberg uttered an obscene term on the air on Jan. 10, according to an Aug. 15 letter from the FCC to station owner Beasley Broadcast Group of Naples.

Additionally, the commission is looking into complaints of indecency aired on the Howard Stern Show on both a Fort Myers station, also a Beasley property, and a New York station owned by Infinity Broadcasting.

The allegations were filed by Coral Gables lawyer Jack Thompson, an anti-obscenity crusader whose complaints have resulted in hefty fines of radio stations in the past.

An FCC spokeswoman said the letters were requests for information from the stations, the routine response to complaints from the public. Beasley could not be reached immediately for comment.

Is that Jack Thompson the one who's a religious right
extremist and far-out GOP activist, in the Anita Bryant
mold?

If so, couldn't we just handcuff him to Neil Rogers, put
them in a cage, and give them a choice of weapons?

We could sell tickets for an event like that.

Ooh, yeah, I'd buy that ticket!

Post 877 dedicated to 87.7 FM, where the audio of WTVJ Channel 6 can be found. I listened to Saturday Night Live during my elementary and middle school years when my parents wouldn't let me watch. Got in a bunch of trouble for it, too, but it was worth it!<P ID="signature">______________

I wonder if this Coral Gables lawyer knows that he has a knob on his radio for turning the station and another one for turning the radio off? Maybe we would all be better off if he used those knobs instead of the courts and FCC. But what can you expect from an attorney?

If this station owned the frequency and did not have to have a government issued license to do business with permission of the gods in Washington DC, then it could tell this attorney to take a hike.

But that might be a little too much Capitalism than we can handle?

Are you sure the FCC would give permission for that to happen? That would be too much freedom on the part of the people.
