Female jocks during the top-40 format of the former KFRC-AM

Good afternoon. Can anyone provide the posters a complete list of female jocks that was on KFRC 610 during the top-40 format from the start of the format until the format change in 8/86.

Not complete by any means, but how about:

* Beverly Fox (late 1970s)

* The Slim One (Leslie Nelson; 1983-84?)

* Rockin' Renel (1985-86?)

Each of whom may be heard on the museum's website (what, you thought there wouldn't be a plug?) at www.Big610.com

DJ

Shana, I believe, was KFRC 610's first jockette in the mid-1970s;
want to say 1974 or '75...

Last I heard, she was in L.A., but unsure if she's still on the air...

How can you forget Sue Hall???

Then there's Sandy Louie, Turi Ryder, Shannon, Candi Chamberlain...

Were Sandy Louie, Turi Ryder, Shannon, and Candi Chamberlain on KFRC? If we're going to talk female DJs in general, then we should go back to Belva Davis on KNEW in the 1960s. I think she even DJ'd before that on the old KSAN 1450 in the 1950s, no?

Turi, Shana (not Shannon) and Candi were all at the original 610/KFRC.

Turi was part of the last group (or next-to-last group) around 1986; Jay was right about Shana at KFRC in the mid-1970s -- check out the aircheck from 1975 on ReelRadio.com -- and Johnny Williams' 440: Satisfaction shows Candi at KFRC in 1980.

That's just the jocks, by the way. If you want to start listing the great newswomen at KFRC...

Waaaaaaaaaay ahead of its time thanks to Jo Interante. A real trailblazer and someone (a woman) who should be nominated to our Hall of Fame. How embarrassing it must have been for the news stations to have to compete with a Top 40's news department.

Name one Top 40 station in America that has a news department today. A one-person morning newscaster does not count.

My dumb. I had forgotten about Shannon (Shannon O'Brien), who did work at KFRC around 1980. I got the references to Shannon and Shana muddled in my mind.

Sandy Louie was also music director at KFRC in the early 1980s. More about this era can ber gleaned at Airchexx.com.

And one of the most beautiful news directors was the lovely Vikki Liviakis. :-*

Truly...and the ONLY reason to watch KRON 4...unless they've lost her too now - I haven't tuned in the weekend news in awhile.

"..and, of course, there was the traffic presence of Jane Dornacker, may God rest her soul..."

Dornacker was smart and very funny - it was great listening to Jane and Dr. Don interact.

Shana was first...arriving Labor Day weekend, 1974...with a teaser campaign beforehand...pre-recorded liners over the intros to records: "Would KFRC hire a lady DJ?"

And another great female presence on KFRC that hasn't been named so far...Jo Interrante, who became News Director in the late 70s.

(Actually, Tripton99 mentioned her a few posts ago...)

...by any chance, does anybody have any airchecks of Jane and The Doctor they'd care to digitise and post somewhere?...

Unfortunately, I have no idea what Joanne or Abby look like.

Interesting...I didn't think I remembered any female on KFRC before Shana. Born to German-speaking parents in NC, I detected a slight German accent in a May 1975 aircheck I heard of her. In February 1989, I heard her on KLSX...the German accent gone.

Anyone know how to get in touch with Shannon O'Brien? (she was a pal of mine...) And speaking of gorgeous girls, she definitely was right up there! (I'm not a guy and I'm not gay, but anyone can tell...
Poor Shannon, the bay area was not kind to her. She didn't deserve the treatment she had from certain males.
