Female jocks during the top-40 format of the former KFRC-AM

"That's just the jocks, by the way. If you want to start listing the great newswomen at KFRC..."

Waaaaaaaaaay ahead of its time thanks to Jo Interante. A real trailblazer and someone (a woman) who should be nominated to our Hall of Fame. How embarrassing it must have been for the news stations to have to compete with a Top 40's news department.

Name one Top 40 station in America that has a news department today. A one-person morning newscaster does not count.

Yes...I have to say I was relieved that Jo was mentioned. I looked through the threads....and Wow.....I have fond memories of hearing her news delivery. What ever happened in her world.....Where is she now?

I have made an inquiry with John Williams, another ex-RKO'er, to see what happened to Jo,
as I am curious, also (and since I also had some updated DJ info on another ex-RKO'er to
send him)...
All I can find of Jo online is she left KFRC as News Director to work on a network level,
which was years ago...

I found this online - from the Texas Radio Hall of Fame Website. It may not be current, but I doubt its too far out of date:

A snippet:

"Since 1995, Jo Interrante has served as the Director of Communications, Affiliate Relations and Liaison between the Affiliate Relations, Programming, News, Research, and Marketing Departments for ABC Radio Networks in Dallas. During her three decades long radio career, she's worked with legendary radio stations and organizations like KRLD 1080, KFRC 610, KNUS-FM, KVIL AM-FM, RKO Radio Networks and KNBR AM and KNAI FM."

Great Recap of the 610 ladies.

Jo was such a talent and enjoyed her through the years, The Duke may have some info on Jo, they worked very closely togeather through the years in the RKO and POST RKO days as The Duke was doing a USA Countdown Show that was affiliated with Jo and her Proudction Company.

Shannon O'Brien was such a sweet and charming talent, I had contact with Shannon a few years ago on Classmates.com as she is listed on Classmates, I found her under KFRC in the company section.

A few other 610 Ladies from the past in the news room and Public Relations Breaks, Jan Black joined KFRC around 84' crossing town from KCBS and joining Dr Don and Robert McCormick in the Morning.

Mid-70s' brought us Sidney Sharpe and Jerri Stewart with some award winning public Relation Breaks.

Another very talented and creative 610 lady is most known for her years on KPIX at 7:30pm for many years in your living room Jan Yanahero, Jan left KFRC in the mid 70's to Join KPIX's Evening Magazine, one of the first Magazine type programs in the country.

She must have left in '74/75 ish Dr Don always enjoyed Jan's Call ins and he always made mention that he did not get to work with her very long.
