:(

Sadly, I think Maria is out at Movin 99.7 as she doesn't appear to be on the website
http://www.movin997.com/

Still, this should make for an interesting and hopefully a good move for the station. Definitely makes the station very Gay friendly in terms of on air jocks - St. John, who hosts the popular PM drive shift, is gay as well (if I'm not mistaken). The HD-2 stream, as we know, is now a Dance station called Pulse.

Movin 99.7 has become a successful CHR/Pop station over the past 6 months. The latest PPM shows it capturing over a 3 share, and over a million listeners.

Yes, St. John is openly gay. I agree with you that KMVQ has made the station gay friendly now that they have managed to pick up the displaced KNGY listeners.

Another thread is asking 'what is talent.' Fernando & Greg have talent and it isn't talent for gays only, they are smart and funny and creative and have fun on the air.
Dave Morey is gay and he was successful for years on KFOG because he is talented and had an entertaining show.
Just like St John, they will succeed because of talent and not sexual orientation.
and if it doesn't work it will be because they weren't entertaining and not because of sexual orientation.

First time poster long time reader ... I'm Marcus CHUNK Bonfiglio and I was the producer on Mornings with Maria, just like TV does during the fall it cancels pilots ... same in radio. Michael Martin made a smart move on Fernando & Greg, they are a great show and will surely do great back on the morning drive. MOViN 997 is now a CHR Flagship station with lots of talent despite what people say. I worked on Free FM, KFRC 2.0 and MOViN and it was awesome, I've worked with wonderful people and I wouldn't change a thing.

Anyways, my radio/media contact info is below.

No, you have to be gay in order to have talent. That's why so many radio personalities are gay. It comes with the territory. Talent, and the ability to pick the right wardrobe for those in-person appearances at mattress and home appliance stores. I mean, heck, a station would be profoundly embarrassed to do a meet'n'greet at Home Depot with some straight guy wearing a beer logo T-shirt and a backwards baseball cap. Gotta have a fashion sense, which only certified gay men can provide.

But I've seen Greg dressed that way so often...

You've got to be kidding. That's crap. Anyone with decent manners and who is professional (straight or gay) knows how to dress nicely in a business situation.

Uh-oh. Greg isn't really gay then? Next thing y'know we'll be seeing Suze Orman dressed like a woman...oh, wait...

This is San Francisco. There's always the chance that Greg is pretending to be gay to further his career. As for Orman, I became suspicious when I learned that one of her homes is in SF.

And please don't jump all over me. I'm only playing...

There's no reason to "suspect" that Suze Orman's a dyke. She's never been closeted about it. Heck, she was president of the GBLT student organization on her college campus. People just "assumed" she was straight.

Anybody catch Fern & Greg this morning? I only caught a brief song intro, no chatter.

Dang! I wanted to catch them. I had thought Monday was the first day and listened then. And then I forgot about Thursday.

I've been listening to them the past few days. Even though they annoyed the crap outta me on Energy 92.7 (& I loved the music on that station), their new show on 99.7 is actually sounding pretty good.

This is good for them, of course, but I guess it also means Energy 92.7 is not coming back anytime soon. Oh well.

CBS required them to tone it down. They sound like they've found a level of edginess they can all live with...

A lot more things than F&G mean that. Ed is committed to mainstream CHR, and nobody else looks to be releasing a station anytime soon.

The latest SF Weekly "Best Of San Francisco" (2010 edition) is out and, for the 2nd year in a row, F&G won the "Best Morning Radio Show Crew" award - last year while on Energy 92.7 // this year on MOViN 99.7. SF Weekly made a point of saying that this year's listings are readers' choice as opposed to their editors' picks.
