Final episode of "The George Michael Sports Machine" to air tonight

Tonight will be the final airing of the sports highlight show "The George Michael Sports Machine" after 24 years of being syndicated nationally since 1984. Your thoughts on this show?

I'll miss having a sports highlight show that gives me the news without fake press conferences, and "as cool as the other side of the pillow." Shows like that are a good alternative whenever ESPN decides to be a caricature of itself during "SportsCenter", which seems to be happening more often these days.

Yeah I'll miss George's highlight delivery, cool and calm. Plus you can understand what he's saying, which is tough when you watch Sportscenter. Lets go to the tape one last time George.

Sorry to see such an awesome program come to an end. :-\ George always talked to his viewers, not at them. All sports programs should be that way......many aren't. ThanX for a good run and best of luck George!

There are too many broadcasters that have this "in your face" style like on ESPN which is the main reason TV broadcasting has gotten bad in recent years. George Michael wasn't like that during his show.

Lets not forget a pretty nice career as a dj. Not many from that era were able to parlay a good radio gig into a long standing tv job, much less a total run of nearly six decades?

Thanks, George. Much appreciated!

Well, I gotta say the farewell edition was pretty classy for "King George". I made it a point to make the show apart of my Sunday (especially during the plays of the month/year broadcasts). Sportscenter may be the benchmark, but The Sports Machine was the gold standard. What a great run. It's a shame it's over.

Never really cared for their policy on scorebugs and network logos (covering them with a HUGE "Sports Machine" logo or zooming in on the video to crop them out), but I'm not going to deny the fact that the show was a pioneer of sports broadcasting and that the world is a lesser place for not having it.

I thought that they were grooming his co-host to take over! Just call the show "The Sports Machine". I knew that he was retiring from the local NBC station in the DC market. But at least keep the machine going. Don't pull the plug!!!!

...nobody here seems to have had personal interaction with George Michael. I know some who have had such, and to a person they came away very disgusted. Good riddance!...
