I'm not really sure that this is a good idea or not. I think that the way ESPN has done it for the past 10 years with the coverage including the final rounds was fine.

The wave of reality shows demonstrates people will watch ANYTHING.And apparently ABC plans to position this as a reality show not an academic exercise.If this works, maybe they'll bring back the GE College Bowl.Maybe quiz and games shows could make a comeback. Maybe Harvey Fierstein in the Center Square.

There's no doubt Game shows will make a comeback.I wish the chair was never canned.I think that was the last time I actually watched ABC...(for a weekly reason)

I kind of surprised that the Bee has gotten this popular that the final rounds are moving to ABC. I hope a lot of people will watch because this is really reality TV at its best. This is really great news, even though I can't picture the bee being a successful ratings-getter in primetime. But It will definitely be something different for primetime viewers to watch, which is always good thing.There have been a few funny/odd moments in the bee the last few years, like the kid who spouted off a phrase from Napoleon Dynamite that confused the commentators, or the kid who fainted and then got up and spelled his word correctly. Classic stuff!

I'm thinking they plan to look at this as their version of American Idol, but without the singing and singers.

If this works, maybe they'll bring back the GE College Bowl.Maybe quiz and games shows could make a comeback.

I doubt they'll bring back the GE College Bowl and a quiz showwould be better suited for daytime than primetime anyway. Look at the short-term success they had with Millionnaire as an example of this. Millionnaire is florishing in syndie/daytime. Just my opinion Cheers

It depends......if it goes up against anything on Mon-Thursday Night it'll get killed by the usual suspencts, but if they bury it on friday or saturday night it'll be #1 for the night

It depends......if it goes up against anything on Mon-Thursday Night it'll get killed by the usual suspencts, but if they bury it on friday or saturday night it'll be #1 for the night

ABC is going to air the final round prime-time coverage on Thursday Night 6/1. ESPN will air coverage in the daytime on Friday 6/1 also.

I'm going to make a bold prediction, The Bee will be number 1 in the prime-time ratings next Thursday Night when it is on ABC. Also I think that this year's bee will have a record amount of US TV viewers in the history of the Bee being on national TV

This has to be the most cultured program a network (sans PBS) has put on the air in at least a decade. this is like Jepardy but without the pop culture type of questions. I plan to be front and center to watch this. I watch the Bee every year and I always come away learning something new. Not only a few new words for my vocabulary but I learn about origin of many words. I thought I'd never see the day a network would put this in Prime time. Especially since the winner is usualy a kid that is homeschooled. I figured a mainstream network wouldn't want to promote that kind of thing considering their political leanings.
