Who the heck is Megan?

A VH1 blog regarding the show gives more information:

http://blog.vh1.com/2009-06-17/megan-wants-a-millionaire-cast-reveal-day-one/

And some more breaking news: Because of contestant Ryan Jenkins now a suspect in the murder, VH1 has announced that the network is postponing any future airings of "Megan Wants a Millionaire."

Re: Finalist on VH1's reality series "Megan Wants a Millionaire" sought in murder

An international manhunt is now on the way for convicted contestant Ryan Jenkins:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,540980,00.html

The story also indicates that he's had a past criminal history resulting from an early 2007 assault charge, and a domestic violence charge involving the murdered model in June--both of which "escaped" the producers of the reality series.

Wow, reality shows make household names out of previously unknown mental cases. Who knew?

These programs are such a wonderful contribution to our society. Thanks VH1 and Viacom!!!!

The situation has made a tragic turn--suspect and former contestant Ryan Jenkins has been found dead in a Canadian motel room:

Come on Tim, the lunatic murderer hanging himself is the "tragic turn" and the murdered model stuffed in the suitcase (who's teeth and fingers were removed) wasn't the bad part?

Dude, clearly you need to watch more Law and Order and less VH1.

In fact, I don't watch VH1 (I even have blocked out the channel through my digital box's parental lock) or never heard of the show until this story broke--but despite the weekend's tragedy the ordeal reflects a sad case on the state of television in general nowadays.

My main point was that the tragic turn was the murder of the model. Your priorities seemed to be a bit off focus here. If anything, the stupid jerk hanging himself is good news in that it saves the already overburdened taxpayers a lot of money and saves us from yet another media spectacle. He did us a favor.

I'd bet Nancy Grace is bummed though.....

She'll be bummed, but now that the MJ case is a homicide, she'll be all over that (again).

Megan Wants A Millionaire

A few other storylines:

Some lizard wishes her pretend shack up guy would stop embarrassing her by being a practical working stiff. She's really running for cover from somebody else's wife, all the while getting as much information as she can about the wife, instead of figuring out that the embarrassing thing is that nobody buys the cow when the milk is free.

Hollyweird goes to jail and detox or therapy or whatever the heck it is they do when they are on the ropes

Janis Joplin kind of thought about it all the way I do, except that I don't drink or do drugs.

This situation is alot like an automobile accident -- you don't want to pay attention to it and wish everyone would ignore it, but you're compelled to slow down and see it anyway.

On that note, Jenkins' other series, the third season of "I Love Money", is also gone:

http://blog.vh1.com/2009-08-24/megan-wants-a-millionaire-officially-canceled/

I wonder if the developments of this murder / suicide would mean any drastic changes for reality programming, now that this has taken a brutal turn?

Re: Finalist on VH1's reality series "Megan Wants a Millionaire" sought in murder

As the update above implies, you can't prosecute a dead man. And considering that VH1 has pulled the offending programming off the air, I have a feeling that VH1 wanted to wash their hands of the whole thing.

Many thought that talk shows would change or cut way back after the Jenny Jones mess but talk shows are still around. It could be that the remaining shows don't do as much now in each episode to lead up to the kind of confrontation that occurred after the JJ ep (Jerry Springer notwithstanding).

Maybe he should have said "an even more tragic turn.

Has Nancy Grace ever really stopped talking about Michael Jackson? Has Diane Dimond ever really stopped talking about Michael Jackson? They've both been all over the Michael Jackson brouhaha for years!

Yes! May Ryan Jenkins fade off into oblivion in the same way that Andrew Cunanan did after he killed himself! If any of you don't remember who Andrew Cunanan was, then maybe that is a good thing!

Every time we enter a new decade, some of the worst fads from the decade that just ended oftentimes fall by the wayside.  We can only hope that in the 2010s, that "reality TV" will be left behind as nothing more than a stupid relic from the 2000s (the "zeroes").  May "reality TV" soon go the way of the variety show.  In the meantime, if VH-1 had stuck to showing music videos (remember what their name stood for?), none of this crap would have ever happened in the first place!  And I have heard that Megan is bummed that her TV show may now be cancelled!  Well cry me a river, Megan!

Except that no one on a variety show killed one person and offed themselves soon after.
