Finneran to plead guilty, can't run for political office; will WRKO pick him up?

Re: Finneran to plead guilty, can't run for political office; will WRKO pick him

>>WRKO which ruined his health and was a factor in his death.

I don't know if Jerry got Parkinsons (or whichever disease he got; I forget exactly) due to that,
but maybe you're suggesting that it made his condition worse...

>>Well, Howie Carr is at about the same age as Jerry was when he started attacking him for his age.
Howie, watch your back........your worst enemy is behind you...your shadow.

In the past, when VB was under him, I kinda said the same thing: eventually VB would force Jerry
out of his slot and he would say, "My name is Doug Goudie--er, VB--not Father Time..." But now
that VB has wound up on TV and hardly ever fills in for Howie anymore, maybe HE isn't such a threat
(not sure which rising star might eventually usurp Howie). As for age, Howie is ten years older than me:
he will turn 55 this month (and I turn 45 next month). Was Howie attacking Jerry when JW was 55?
(I forget how old JW was when he passed on...)

Peter Gelzinis column in today's Herald also takes RKO to task if Finneran is indeed hired. He proclaims talk radio as a "wasteland" (though if someone were to hire Peter, I'm sure it wouldn't be a wasteland any more, eh?) and says morning talk hosts are "recycled DJs" (well, Imus was a jock before wasn't he?). He says 'RKO may have to pay big bucks to get Tommy (and I've read that the deal would be "long term")

Well, how long do you think Finneran could last at WRKO? As long as that other scandal plagued politician-turned host, Peter Blute?

THE HERALD
If anyone understands how to assess his worth on the open market and persuade others to pay for it ... it’s Mistah Speakah.
Besides, the truth is Finneran, on his worst day, is a quantum leap over the recycled disc jockeys they have blabbering through the morning now. [continue]

That's the key - if he makes 400 large for two years it's not as good as ten years at his bio tech current gig - and, yes, former rock critic turned political analyst Peter Gelzinis is correct - with NO experience Finneran can probably blow away Carr and Company.

WRKO does not have talent to boast about - just a bunch of egotistical right-leaning people with arrogance and little else.

Jerry Williams was the real thing. Howie Carr should be tried as an accessory in Mr. Williams' passing.

>>how long do you think Finneran could last at WRKO?

It would be a disaster if WRKO gave him big money and he went on to tank in the ratings. Would be
like if Dice-K goes on to post a 4-18 W/L record and a 7.1 ERA in his first year with the Sox...after
all that money.

I don't think Howie's egotistical. Just because he keeps mentioning that book (ca-ching!), and how
it's now in paperback (ca-ching!), and how he'll be signing copies of it at... (ch-ching!) and... :)

If Howie were to ever lose his show, someone could use one of his own lines: "Howie had to retire because of
ill health. The listeners* got sick of him."

*--HC's original line uses "voters"

Well, how long do you think Finneran could last at WRKO?

The $64 Million Dollar Question.
