FIRST "DANCING WITH THE STARS", NOW GSN PLANNING NEW BIBLE GAME SHOW

Wonder where GSN is going to schedule this Bible quiz show? Perhaps in between Newlywed Game, Millionaire or Match Game? Or Dancing With The Stars? Anywhere where love of money, adultery, saying curse words and fighting abound I guess (all of which are sins according to the Bible).

This show would be more fitting for TBN, FamilyNet or even Pax (when they existed), but GSN? Won't last long.

This would definitely fit on these networks, & maybe even Daystar. Advertisers may not easily want to advertise for this show, because it's a religious themed show. GSN is risking alienating the non-christian viewers because this show won't target them. If done wrong, they could even alienate the christian viewers as well. With that in mind, I don't see it working out at all. At least I won't see it OTA (unless Daystar wanted to pick them up, & I'm too far to receive TBN OTA).

What does TVLand have to do with this, again?

Both GSN and TV Land are straying away from their original purpose -- classic programming and, in GSN's case, game shows that appeal to everyone.

PAX actually *did* air a pilot of a Bible-themed game show, called "Genesis." It had celebrities as well---one was Susan Seaforth Hayes, and it's possible that her hubby Bill was the other one. Jim "Celebrity Sweepstakes" McKrell hosted.

The game show even had a website, but it's not working now.

There have been a few Bible-themed game shows, but all on Christian networks, AFAIK.

I think bible-themed game shows should belong on TBN. Virtual Memory was one that was bible-themed on TBN, but that started up many years ago (and IIRC still airs in reruns on weekends).

Virtual MEMORY! Couldn't remember that other word!

The question is, how much would be offered as prizes, and would possible "greed" be involved? (as in "Will you keep the $2,000 or answer this question on the Book of Job chapter 42 for $5,000?")

That might be the difference in how a secular network would run this vs. a Christian network. The love of money being the root of all evil, whatever kind of game show this is, could be treading thin ice.....

According to the given article, the contestants will be playing for faith-based charities in their communities, so any purpose of greed will be moot.

But in the reality-based community, TV Land has nothing to do with this show or its production. Why waste time mention that channel?

And I have yet to see the first game show that has true appeal to 'everyone', even stalwarts like Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. There's a lot of people with familiarity of the Bible, and some of them are atheists. (In fact, seeing a well-read atheist or someone of another religious mantra competing on the show would actually be one heck of a hook.)

I'll take Paul & Jan Crouch and her wig for $10,000 please. Please send your love gift now, now, now! Operators are standing by.

I'm wondering how this Dancing With The Stars is working for them. I know I catch a few
of their game shows on the weekend when little else is on, but so far, I haven't watched
a damn thing on GSN this weekend!

If this bible game show is maintained as a game show and not just some sort of reality tv show then it will fit into the idea of game shows on a game show channel, at least.
It's just that the reality shows don't really belong on GSN.
Too bad the Reality TV channel isn't around in the States anymore.
(Canada still has one)
