First new trans-pacific MW in almost 2 years - plus unid 960! 10/14/14

Seemed to be a good day for Asian prop, and an alright day for regular prop. JOUB 774 from Akita with NHK-2 was in, and then this came in...

828 - JOBB Osaka, Japan; poor with Japanese talk by woman; parallel to a fair 774 JOUB since it is on the same network. At 0702 PT 10/14. NEW #624, 300KW, 5,110 miles!! TP #6, Japan #4 on MW.
594 (likely JOAK) almost made it to audio, as did 972 (likely HLCA). Weaker ones noted on 576, 585, 675 and 864.

This morning as well, closer to 0615, I heard an unid on 960 khz with country music under CFAC (no it was not KALE Richland, heard by day) and mention of a 993-0403 phone number and an unknown business, mostly buried by CFAC with the 3-ft loop. Audio clip here:

In addition, KATQ 1070 Plentywood, MT was in this morning, as well as 1260 KMZT, 1250 KNEU and 1210 KHAT, now common catches. Even KSTP was still very faintly in at around 0600 PT (8AM Central Time - and their sunrise is at 7:28 CT!)

Re 960, KSRA Salmon ID?

Could the 960 be KSRA in Salmon, ID? The phone prefix 993 is apparently assigned to the town (http://www.thedirectory.org/pref/search/208.htm) and the Topaz site indicates it has a C&W/AC format.

Second newbie tonight! Semi-aurora conditions were to blame.

1060 - KDUS Tempe, AZ; fair to good with TOH ID at 2200 PT 10/14, "KDUS, KUPD-HD2 Tempe-Phoenix." Then into NBC Sports update. NEW #625, tent 5KW day power (did not sound like 500W), 1,019 miles. Not bad. CKMX almost completely gone, the CCI under KDUS with music is likely 2200-mile away XEEP Mexico City.

First of all, congrats on all those catches....especially the TP stuff.

I was intrigued by your 960 catch, so I tried to do a little detective work. Unfortunately nothing quite fit. BUT.... (As you know), there is a 960 in Phoenix. There's also a -993-0403 business listing in Phoenix. The country music format doesn't fit, however, and they'd also probably need to be on their ND day pattern to make the hop to Washington State. There's also a 960 in Baker, MT (near the North Dakota border) that runs a country format (according to R-L), but no nearby 993 telephone exchange. The station, KFLN, runs 5kw day and 91 watts, night. So it's plausible that you might have caught them on day power at 0615 your time, but the matter of the phone exchange still casts an element of uncertainty.

I'm trying to figure out the business name buried underneath CFAC in the news report. Sounded like a gas station or mini mart...? 993-0403 leads to the Salmon, ID Schools Foundation, not a gas station, or the police department. Weird UNID!
