Florida Radio Hall of Fame

not much of a website YET...agreed! We all know it will evolve...no big issue. At least it didn't take you two years to develop a website...like 00.

advice to flarhof --- make "probably" the clear channel employee one of your first additions to the website, along with Jimmy Whitaker, and you'll have a nice start to real hall of famers from the Panhandle.

I started in Tallahassee radio in 1979 and know a good bit of local radio history. Let me know if you need some info for the new site.

Add Alan to that list. Meant to mention I was leaving off some good folks! Add a list for great listeners and start with rob! Strobey award.

If you would like any historical information regarding Ocala and Gainesville radio, let me know. I will be happy to fill you in on the radio history of this market. I started my career in the Ocala / Gainesville market 35-years ago and have seen many changes first hand over the years. You may contact me at [email protected].

Listen, if the Florida Radio Hall of Fame is anywhere near as well-conceived and thought out as the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame has been, it should be a big success. John Long does a fantastic job with the Georgia organization, along with the board members. And with his involvement with the Florida Hall, it should do fine as well. Oh, and if you've never had a chance to read it, may I suggest John's e-book, "Puttin' On The Hits" at his website, www.oidar.com . It's quite a read, especially the section on his tenure at WAPE/Jacksonville and the hiring of Greaseman for mornings there.

Thank you Diamond Two. We are working to make the Florida Radio Hall of Fame successful. We are no stranger to detractors. In 2007 there were rude baseless comments made about the GRHoF and somehow after nearly five years and hundreds of members we are still working to honor Georgia radio professionals. This year, a Florida radio alum, Jay Thomas, Emmy winning actor and Sirius Radio host will be our emcee. Florida radio pros are welcome to attend. Ticket information is available at www.grhof.com.
