Fly 92 i wish they were still like WKTU in nyc.

I was listening to a tape i found of fly 92 i recorded back in summertime of 1998 it was on a thursday when we were vacationing here from nyc at the time and Fly 92 was a lot like WKTU 103.5 in nyc playing all the great disco songs from the 70s and 80s and 90s hits that weren't new besides the new music like KTU does. My question is why ain't Fly 92 that good anymore? why are they mostly all rock of today and nothing good anymore? That was the only station here in albany ny that does good and just like KTU, now we have no station thats like KTU anymore which stinks. I understand albany radio is not like nyc's but we need a copycat of KTU here with the music and format. There's no reason why Clear Channel can't do that for us in this area, they own a lot of stations here. Even if they turned Kiss 102.3 into a KTU the signal is no good so that would have to be fixed first.

Dance stations tend to pull low numbers, plus any Top 40 worth it's weight goes where the hits are and that landscape keeps changing and evolving.

Other than the DHT track crossing over to pop, dance records don't make much of a dent. The days of Amber have been over for a long time. That's not to say that dance music is bad, just not mass appeal. KTU's format works due to the size and ethnicity of NYC. There aren't many pure dance stations that are successful anywhere.

During the 80s and 90s, Fly was playing dance on top of top40 and really raked in the ratings.

Since then, their ratings sucked when the programmer put too much urban in there.

Dance draws a higher ratings than what you explained earlier. I wish you would just do the research one more time.

I agree Fly 92 was great then. I really wish they would go back to the dance direction already. And yes a Dance station just like WKTU 103.5 in nyc would definitly work here in Albany playing all the same dance hits of today with the 70s & 80s disco and 90s dance. I'm surprised Clear Channel didn't take one of their many albany stations and do this since they own KTU in nyc too. I would say Either Kiss 102.3 should go to the ktu format or wrve 99.5 which would be better since their signal on 99.5 is a lot better.

If you think that dance will draw a lower ratings, PROVE IT!

I want to prove that dance will draw a higher ratings.

The Mixshows need to go 4 hours commercial free, even if they include cutting edge dance

I never said that Dance will draw lower ratings. It would DRAW HIGHER RATINGS like your saying in the albany market. I agree about the mix shows too.

Fly 92 needs to take a page out of dance music books and program it as a dance leaning top40.

The Albany, NY has a club scene but it is really starving for dance radio. I dont blame them either.

Any station willing to flip to a dance format to get its ratings up, do it and you will find a record breaking gain in your book.
