At last! The West Mountains are open. This spot was all closed and a good chunk was on fire last summer. Instead of going all the way to 8300 ft. Snowbank Mountain, I parked the car and did the easiest summit hike known to man - a 2-minute climb to the top of Granite Peak, elevation 8267 feet, about a mile from Snowbank. Excellent views west to Council, Cambridge and Midvale, the Wallowa Mountains, and then to the south down all the way to Shafer Butte in the Boise Mountains (where the FM transmitters are), and east to the Salmon River Mountains and the famous Sawtooth Mountains southwest of Stanley. Here's the scan. This spot is just a half-hour drive from my house and as the crow flies, maybe 7 miles SW.
Boise FMs were line-of-sight and some were close to *90* dBu. With HD hash in the low 60s. No working the first-adjacents on several channels, since they were piled w/ HD hash.
