FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19-20: 104.9 & 105.5

Almost done with the traditional Class As

104.9
East Tennessee: Knoxville rimshot (maybe not so much anymore with ownership and format change) WTNQ, LaFollette, TN. Sometimes WKOS, Kingsport TN sneaks in underneath.
Retro/other: Dayton, OH area: Not much with WTUE and its sidebands but sometimes WERK, Muncie or WEGE, Lima sneak in.

105.5 Sevier County's (licensed to Gatlinburg) WSEV-FM, Mixx 1055

Retro/other: Either WCHO, Washington Courthouse OH or WMVR, Sidney OH (whose latest on-air identity is TAM1055 which makes no sense to me whatsoever). I worked at WMVR AM (noe deleted) and WMVR-FM in the 70s

From Meriden, CT:

104.9: WIHS Middletown, CT, with Christian teaching and preaching. The only signal to be heard here, as the transmitter is less than 10 miles away.
105.5: A deep-fringe signal from WWEI Easthampton, MA, relaying all-sports WEEI-FM Boston.
 
Mankato, MN

104.9-nothing local. Sometimes KMRR Spencer, IA but if anything its K285FX New Ulm (translator of KJLY Blue Earth)
105.5-KRBI River 105 St Peter (tower is in North Mankato next to an elementary school)
 
In the near north Chicago suburbs 104.9 is splatter from WOJO on 105.9 transmitting from downtown Chicago.
On 105.9 I hear nothing in my area.
 
Far northwest suburban Chicago....

104.9: A Weak signal from WXRX from Belvedere, IL (Rockford market) combnined with moderate splatter from WOJO (105.1).

105.5: Local WZSR, Woodstock, IL. Stick is about three miles northwest of my house on one of what used to be the towers for WAIT (850), which is now silent.
 
No, there's no connection. WTAM is iHeart, WMVR is locally owned by the family of the original owner (fun fact that he would always tell everyone: He was a cast member in "December Bride". He rode that TV credit all of his life).

Lexington, KY:
104.9: Fair-weak signal from semi-local/rimshot Country "Froggy 104-9 & 101-7" WFKY, Frankfort (3.4 kW @ 282' ~26 mi). Fights with classic country/Bluegrass/Americana "Pickup Country 104-9" WSKV, Stanton (720 W @ 679' ~40 mi) on the east side of town, especially in rural Fayette County, outside of the urban area.

105.5: Very strong signal from local Classic Hits "Rewind 105-5" WWRW, Mount Sterling (25 kW @ 328' ~10 mi). R.I.P. to its beloved previous format, 50's & 60's Oldies (as "Magic 105"), circa 1999-2010. On a side note, WWRW is one of the few iHeart stations in the Aloha Station Trust and it has just been approved by the FCC to be sold to Clarity Communications and will be operated by L.M. Communications via LMA. It will be very interesting to see what L.M. has in store for the station once the sale closes.

Zachary, LA:
104.9: Fair-weak signal from rimshot Sports simulcaster "1045 ESPN Baton Rouge" KNXX, Donaldsonville (3.8 kW @ 417' ~39 mi). The station is meant to cover the southern half of the Baton Rouge metro, whereas WNXX (104.5) is located 6 miles from here and is meant to cover the northern half of the market.

105.5: Fair signal from local Spanish CHR "Latin 105.5" KDDK, Addis (6 kW @ 328' ~24 mi)
 
White Lake, MI

104.9: Nothing. Lots of interference from 105.1 WMGC Detroit when there isn't static.

105.5: WWCK Flint "CK-105.5", a CHR station. Fair to good signal
 
Mason City, IA:
104.9- Good to fair signal from KLMJ/Hampton

105.5- Mostly static, though I have managed to eek out KRBI/St. Peter (Mankato) a few times (reception is usually better out in open areas). Earlier this summer, I received KKJO/St. Joe, MO like it was a local.

Central KS:
104.9- Good signal from KSAL-FM/Salina
105.5- From the hilltop, fair to weak signal from KVSV-FM/Beloit. KKJO will also come in from time to time.
