FM News 101.1 flips to I101 as Adult Hits/Hot AC

Zorn is right.

This has a very B 96 feel from the Killer Bee, and Party Radio days. I think calling this station Adult Hits is misrepresenting it. They play all the Top 40 hits of the 90s and 2000s. If the program it and market it right for Chicago, it could create a niche format.

My idea would be at some point to incorporate more of the Chicago house and dance music of the 90s that was made mainstream thanks to B 96.

It's different so I will listen from time to time and give it a chance. Vanilla Ice and "Ice Ice Baby" is playing just as I type this. It's like the music I grew up with as I turned from a child into an adult.

What happened to the ops manager Tim Spencer I hear he is a good guy?

BrianThaB, it's been quite a while! I'm living now in Morris. The good and bad of it, I can hear these Chicago stations but it goes in and out of static. Just on the fringe of signals in my car. I'll take it though. The music reminds me of college! It's a good start. And I agree. More house and dance from the 90s would fit Chicago quite well.

Is there a recording of the format flip? There is one for the Merlin station in NYC, but I have not been able to find one for Chicago.

Z!!

Nice to see you again on this board. I agree its been awhile! Hope to see you on these boards in the future. I still have a ton of tapes from B 96 from 89-early 2000.

I like 90s music but their playlist sucks. Too many stations going after the same audience. WLIT and 100.3 (and WTMX to some extent) will eat this crash and burn part II station alive.

Sorry, I forgot about WXLC and other suburban stations with part of their playlist...

The idea is to make "FM News" ratings look decent by comparison.

About the only way to do that would be to turn off the PPM encoder.

The music mix on 101.1 is interesting, but the stationality is rotten. It is evident that a lot more time, effort and resources are being put into 87.7.
