A smoky Saturday, but the views were there - just not the far ones. Hiked up to Boulder Lake (GORGEOUS place...lots of spotted frogs, fish jumping, and COLD water for a tired hiker like me), then up the scramble to nearby Boulder Mountain, elevation 8,377 feet. My second-highest summit ever, next to St. Mary's Peak in western MT back in June. (Lucky I went there, as the area is shut down due to a fast-growing wildfire 
). Lots of new stations for the Cascade/Valley County logbook, and some very surprising ones too. Even from this summit, there were a few channels that netted zero stations. In a wide-open place like west central ID, not a surprise. The aircraft and tropo scatter helps.
