FM simulcast of WCNC/WZBO in NE North Carolina?

Is WELS-FM/Kinston or any translator on 102.9 FM rebroadcasting the Spanish simulcast of WCNC/Elizabeth City-WZBO, Edenton? I ask because of an occurence early Saturday morning in Durham, NC, while out local WKIX-FM 102.9 was off-air and I heard this simulcast at the 102.9 dial position...it was staticky, but held pretty consistently, on several radios. I'm just trying to figure out why I heard this here (meaning on that frequency), I doubt there would be a fill-in translator so close to Norfolk's 103 Jamz (WOWI) and I'm not aware of any other 102.9s that would be a part of such a simulcast.

I tried to listen this morning on the way to work and I got 103 Jamz on 102.9. I did flip over to the AM because I heard that today they changed to classic country. I turned it on and indeed it was classic country. As for anything on FM, they did not mention it on air, the only thing I could think is if for some reason they were running it on 102.5 as a stunt to launch the classic country but I don't know why that would come in on 102.9. Strange. If anyone finds out more please post.

Probably heard another station with same satellite feed as WCNC WZBO. FM skip on 102.9.

Country programming may be a great move by East Carolina Radio. They are adding Panther and Tarheels sports.

I heard their format was part of a national feed called "La Gran D", but the specifically IDed at the TOH as WCNC, Elizabeth City/WZBO, Edenton.

Interesting question. Not aware of any translator etc in NE NC on 102.9. AFIK, East Carolina Radio does not have any stations outside of this area. I wonder how they feed their programming to WCNC WZBO? -Bill

That's on 98.7 in Jacksonville, a very strong station. Unless it's not going to be there any more I doubt a small station like WELS would do it.

Which station is classic country?
