FMQB: Interesting Alliance Between WMVY And Nantucket Public Radio

Since some messages about radio on Cape Cod get posted on this board, I'd like to pass along a link to an FMQB article published today (July 6th), announcing a unique alliance between WMVY-92.7, a commercial radio station, and Nantucket Public Radio.

According to the FMQB article, Nantucket Public Radio has been using two translators it owns, 93.9 in Centerville and 100.7 (?) in Harwichport, to rebroadcast WMVY, giving it a presence on the Mid-Cape.

The article states that the two translators signed-on in late June.

I'm pretty sure the "100.7" in Harwichport has to be a typo. There probably would be too much interference with WZLX in Boston.

No, that is not a typo. The FCC will approve anything these days, just look at IBOC.

WMVY is also getting replayed on 96.5 in Newport... which used to replay Classical 95.9 in South County. I've listened to MVY a number of times when in the area, and the music selection is fantastic.

Holy translators Batman!

There are a few other stations besides MVY that could use translators as well like 96.3 The Rose and Ocean 104 (103.9) which can barely be heard on the west end of the Cape. <P ID="signature">______________
