Football delays 9/11 Movie (part 2) in some cities

San Diego is one of the cities where part 2 of ABC's "The Path to 9/11" will be delayed. That city's ABC
affiliate, Ch 10, has announced part 2 will air on Saturday night. this is no doubt due to the fact that the
Chargers are playing at 7:30 pm local time, and I believe that in the case of ESPN Monday Night football,
you'll have the ABC affiliates in _the cities whose teams are playing_ broadcasting the game as well.
But cable only to the rest of the nation. Thus the delay in "Path to 9/11 Pt 2"...

Minnesota plays Washington at 7 pm ET, and San Diego plays Oakland at 10:30 pm ET...so I'm guessing ABC
affiliates in Minneapolis, Oak., S.D., and Wash. all are rescheduling the movie's conclusion. (In case of D.C.
though I'd think people could catch the movie on the Baltimore ABC station?)

Part 2 of the 9/11 miniseries is only being re-scheduled in San Diego. I'm guessing the blackout rule is in effect, becase the game isn't on the over-the-air schedule in San Francisco or Washington D.C. In Minneapolis, the game will be on "MY 29", no doubt giving that station the best ratings they've had all month.

FWIW, the ESPN feed of the Raider game will air on San Francisco's CW (formerly UPN) affiliate.

Hi everyone:

It should be pointed out that although ESPN broadcasts Monday Night Football and NFL Network will have Thursday & Saturday Night games, this NO guarantee that the game will also somehow be simulcast on the station (regardless of network affiliation) will actually carry the games on ESPN & NFL Network simply because they have the teams' preseason game rights.

As I indicated in a post elsewhere on this board as an example, the rights to ESPN & NFL Network games featuring the Denver broncos went to FOX O&O KDVR 31 DESPITE not having the preseason game rights (CBS O&O KCNC 4 has those).

In short (And to repeat), even though your local station may have the preseason rights to your teams games, it DOES NOT guarantee that they will air the ESPN and/or NFL Network games as well. Some stations will pick them up. Others will not. It's just that simple.

FWIW :D

Cheers :D
