Foreign-language movies on NYC television in the Late 1940s?

...this weekend I watched a videotape I made of a years-ago TCM screening of the documentary MY VOYAGE TO ITALY with Martin Scorsese as narrator; he makes mention in the opening minutes that Italian-language movies would run on a New York TV station as early as the late 1940s. Does anybody have any listings for these screenings, and were only Italian pictures shown, or did other foreign-language fims appear on New York TV arou8nd the same period?...
