Did you really think the FCC would settle for the lowball offer from CC & others after seeing what Spitzer was able to extract from the record companies? Look at how much the FCC is getting from a boob flash. Expect the chump change offered up so far to be a mere down payment on the final total.

Negotiations are fine, but they're just that, negotiations. Nobody is holding a gun to the FCC's head and telling them they have to settle the issue. I still think that it will be some months after they again have five commissioners before this issue reaches its climax.

The FCC is in no hurry, which may be good news for NY stations that are currently going through the renewal process. If you've ever dealt with the FCC, you should understand that very few things happen quickly. To paraphrase Longfellow, "The mills of the FCC grind slowly, but they grind exceeding small."
