Former Governor David Patterson's success as a talk show host remains to be seen. Therefore, WOR could be taking a risk droppping Malzberg and putting Patterson up against Hannity.

But he didn't. As someone with access to all the ratings said on another board, Malzberg never beat Hannity, with the exception of an occasional "odd" slice of the pie.Kevin L. Sealy said:Malzerg had good ratings. In fact, he made it known that he beats Sean Hannity in most of the Arbitron books.

TTalkradio1 said:That's not true. Malzberg beat Hannity in all the demos in more than one book, and often beat him with men 25-54.

In an interview Malzberg admitted that his recent ratings were not good, but that he had hoped they would improve as the political scene heated up.

“The ratings, naturally, in the summer months go down…Across the board, except for [John] Gambling, the station ratings had gone down.”
Malzberg, though, was convinced his show would be rejuvenated in the fall.
“I had no doubt [the ratings] were going to pick up, heading into an election year, come September when everybody gets back into it,” Malzberg says.

Hannity's ratings were not better! Its the summer months and WABC declined more than WOR did. Look on the overall ratings.

It depends...he can be pretty glib and that can work. Ed Koch was pretty good on the radio. But I don't see a lot of people falling over themselves to hire Elliot Spitzer. And at one time he was a hot commodity. As for Patterson, what else is he going to do? He could be the next Jerry Springer. WOR isn't the most dynamic operation in town. They are living proof that a body at rest tends to stay at rest.
