Former NBC Sports reporter Charlie Jones dead at 77

Wow...what a double-whammy for the Peacock. I can't ever recall where a network lost two of its most respected broadcasters within hours of one another. I haven't heard Jones' since a few years ago, when he was doing radio promos for car dealership in his home of San Diego. He wasn't the biggest name even on the NBC Sports roster, but I thought he was a great announcer.

Charlie Jones on television was one of a kind. Great distinctive voice and delivery. NFL, mostly The AFC West, an NBC College football game. Once was the NBC voice of Nascar when the net ran selected events in the 70s.

Thanks, Charlie. We enjoyed what you brought to the mic.
