Former Program Director quoted in Christian Science Monitor

Former Boston Globe writer quotes former Program Director (again) in pages of Christian Science Monitor:http://search.csmonitor.com/search_content/0512/p15s01-almp.html Bob Dylan is one of many music stars hosting their own shows on satellite radio.By Jim Sullivan | Correspondent of The Christian Science Monitor "But Oedipus, vice president of alternative programming at CBS Radio, thinks it may be for naught"In all seriousness, can someone tell us the job description of a "Vice President Of Alternative programmingat CBS Radio" (it can't be as long as the title), and what effect that job has on radio in this market?Wouldn't Mel Karmazin, Jason Wolfe, Pete Falconi or someone more "active" be a more appropriate quote?

You gotta get over it. No matter what one things of Mr. Pus as a person, he is a great source for quotes about the music biz.

The commentary is more about Jim Sullivan's inability to talk to anyone substantial in the radio business after leaving The Globe. Also, the Monitor seems like a strange forum to find a former Program Director's continuing commentary. In the future maybe the ex-Globe staffer and the ex-P.D. can give some insight to ESPN and the FOOD channel. Anything's possible.

Or they could become crankly little men that took a shot once, a long long time ago, and it failed so they blame everyone else for their shortcommings... Opps, too late. Job already taken.

Joe to answer your questions: Oedipus is indeed vice President of alternative formats for CBS radio. A title that he held for a few years which began during his tenure as program director of WBCN as well. He is essentially an in house consultant for cbs for their alternative stations. It does not have much of anything to do with the Boston market to answer your second question because cbs does not operate an alternnative station in Boston, yes BCN reports to the alternative panel but they're really active rock more than anything else. BY your questioning why Sullivan would tap Oedipus for a quote about Dylan, it doesnt take mush to read between the lines; What you are really saying is "why would Jim Sullivan ask Oedipus anything about Bob Dylan when I have written extensively about him, Im here and readily available"?. A fair question Ill grant you although Oedipus's name does still carry a good deal of weight. SO Ill ask you the question: Why did Jim Sullivan go to Oedipus for a quote about Dylan instead of YOU?.........................Im curious to see what YOU think the answer is.
