Former "Voice Of The Gamecocks", Bob Fulton, had passed away.

WOW!!! What a radio sports pro he was... I remember board op'ing a lot of those USC football games with him making the PBP calls..... RIP Bob... You will be missed... CC1

This is so sad. He was the best, and a true gentleman.. I remember listening to all the Gamecocks' games and the exploits of Roche, Owens, and Coach McGuire on my little transistor when I was ten years old. He was one of the big reasons I became a Carolina fan.

I was privileged to have met Bob Fulton on a couple of occasions away from the mike, and what you met in person was the same as what you received on the air, a true gentleman that will be sorely missed.

Bob=Legend. Great guy, friend and ambassador for USC. I'll never forget staying up late as a kid listening to his basketball play-by-play for the Gamecocks during the McGuire era when John Roche, Tom Owens, Tom Riker (among others) played. I remember like it was yesterday how excited he would become...especially during the Carolina/Clemson football game (I think in 1979) when we eeked out a 13-9 win over the Tigers. I LOVED the way his voice would kind of crack whenever we scored a touchdown, "Gamecocks approach the scrimmage line and get set, Harper under center, takes the snap, hands off to Rogers and SCOOOOORESSSSSSSS!!!!" Classic. If he'd stayed as the play-by-play announcer for a bit longer than 1995, I think he would've been THE greatest play-by-play announcer the SEC has ever had. As it stands, he's definitely right up there with the SEC's greatest...Georgia's Larry Munson.

RIP, Bob...and tell Coach McGuire and Coach Morrison we said hi.
