FOX 970 STARTS NEW MORNING SPORTS SHOW

Who pays T&W for the Steeler games, the Steelers or DVE? If DVE pays them they likely could not do a show for CBS without giving up doing the games.

Gee, dropped in Pittsburgh and not on in Phila, NY, Boston or any other major east coast markets that I know of, where is Stephen A Smith's show on and why is it on?

Parttimer, T&W are paid by the Steeler network. So, if they were offered a fulltime gig at the Fan, they may end up still doing those games for the STeelers Network. That would be up to the Steeler Network, right? But, would the Fan allow them to still do that (be on DVE)? I would think not.

I believe that DVE and the Steelers Network just signed a contract a few years back.

Losing T&W would be a big blow to DVE, too. They made the broadcasts.

I am pretty sure that the Steelers run the Steeler network, but because CC is the current holder to the play by play contract in this market there might be a conflict of interest if they were to show up on The Fan. Now if CBS Radio were to make a successful bid for the Steeler broadcasts that would be a different animal, but I don't kno how long their current deal runs.

As for why Stephen A Smith is on, Fox Sports Radio hired him for mornings to take over for Steve Czaban in Jan. His show is currently heard here but will be replaced once Linelli takes over the morning drive.

But the Steelers network is CC, not the Steelers, correct?

I always undertood it as the Steelers running it, but with CC salespeople selling it and CC providing the programming bought by the Steelers. That's how I understood their contract to be. In fact, I believe there is just a little group of them in their building who sell exlusively for the Steeler network. But, all management decisions regarding programming the Steeler Network, Steelers have final say.

I'm happy for Greg Linelli getting a gig out of this, but I agree it's a pretty lame effort going up against ESPN and The Fan. Hope it does not end up like the Saturday morning Pirate show they used to do with 30 minute intervals between callers. Not Linelli's fault certainly, he does a credible job.
