Fox News Channel Beats CNN & MSNBC Combined in April Ratings

I didn't realize that a thread titled "Fox News Channel Beats CNN & MSNBC Combined in April Ratings" was the proper avenue to vent our frustrations with a channel that is clearly more popular than the other two. Does it hurt that bad to be in the political minority that we are compelled to make excuses to downplay facts? How ironic, a thread populated by people defending MSNBC and CNN has post after post of spin on the simple fact that Fox News is beating the competition!

*Note that I have no desire to discuss my personal political preferences.

If you're done feeling superior, you might read the entire thread. You'll see that quite a few of the posters have espoused conservative viewpoints - it hasn't been exclusively a Fox News trash fest at all. The poster previous to you trashed O'Reilly and Olberman. I'd call that fair and balanced.

And I don't see anything wrong with expressing your political preferences in the context of a discussion on cable news channels.

The 'media' created nothing. Palin did herself in by opening her mouth and spewing gibberish. The 'media' called her on it as is their duty.

As for the lapel pin controversy....all the Reichwing pundits aired breathlessly about Obama's apparent lack of patriotism due to his lack of a lapel pin. The 'media' has every right to ask him directly why or why not. Again, the 'media' created nothing.

The media decides which stories get covered, besides adding their own tone to it . An example was the birth certificate controversy. I remember hearing something months ago about the lack of one, and haven't heard anything since. I didn't know what to make of that story then, nor do I now. Whether there's any truth to it or not, I don't know, and probably don't really care. The story just sort of died, unresolved. And as for spewing gibberish, I was less than impressed with Joe Biden.

But this is not a political debate. It's a discussion on the news media. So where are those real news services in TV land you referenced? Let me know so I can I check them out. I am saying that, as an independent, I felt betrayed by what I saw passing as news. I will probably not watch the 3 networks again for news. I personally feel the media didn't do its job in presenting a fair picture for an independent like me to make a decision for the election. Well, on second thought, that's not exactly true. I would have to say that Lou Dobbs is the lone true newsman out there. Yet his show is described as news and commentary.
