https://news.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n36466

Show Starts on February 12th

FOX News Radio (FNR) will debut a new series entitled "The Candidates with Bret Baier" on the FOX News Podcast Network. Launching on Tuesday, February 12, chief political anchor and anchor of "Special Report" (weekdays 6pm), Bret Baier will debut the weekly podcast aimed to profile the 2020 presidential field.

Who has time for this stuff?

Two important foundations of broadcast talk have always been LIVE and LOCAL. This is neither.

There's more live content out there than anyone could possibly consume. What's the point?

I don't know Bret's salary but I suspect his time isn't cheap.

I agree there's no harm in trying something new but Podcasting is the new Gold Rush. Everyone seems scared to death they might be left behind!

I use podcasting to pick up some radio shows that are not aired in my market. It is also a huge time saver. I can listen to a radio show, which is an hour including all the ads and local news/weather/traffic, or the podcast, which is only 33-35 minutes long (omitting all the local content). I use time compression on my podcast app, so that 33 minutes is really 25 minutes.

Did the world really need a Bret Baier podcast? Probably not. But maybe the FOX Fans want it.

That's a matter of "re-purposing" existing content which makes sense. I was thinking the Baier podcast would be fresh content but on second thought it'll probably consist of his Special Report interviews with candidates cobbled together.
