Fox rebrands some MyNetworkTV O&O, is it a sign for the end of MyNetworkTV.

i just noticed awhile ago the local MyNetworkTV in my area, KDFI My27 has been rebranded by Fox, their parent company to reflect on a branding saying something related to the Fox branding like "Fox 4 More" in relation to it's Fox sister station KDFW Fox 4.

then i did some research on Wikipedia and turns out, of the Fox owned and operated stations that are MyNetworkTV O&O, it looks like 5 of those have been rebranded.

and here's the list of those rebranded and reataining the "My" branding on the station for now:
redbranded:
KDFI, Dallas-Fort Worth, TX: from My27 to Fox 4 More
KUTP, Phoenix, AZ: from My45 to Fox 10 Xtra
WFTC, Minneapolis–Saint Paul, MN: from My29 to Fox 9+
WPWR, Chicago, IL: from My50 to CW 50 (happened last year when WPWR took over CW
affiliation from WGN).
WDCA, Washington, DC: from My20 to Fox 5 Plus

retained MYNetwork branding for now:
KTXH, Houston, TX: still My20
WRBW, Orlando, FL: still My65
WMYT, Charlotte, NC: still My12
KCOP, Los Angles, CA: Still My13
WWOR, New York City, NY: Still My9

as i noted, WPWR rebranded last year when the took over the CW affiliation from WGN after Tribune Media signed a new deal with the CW to keep their CW stations affiliation on those respected stations except WGN, where they wanted WGN to regain it's independent status it lost when it became Chicago's WB station in the 1990s as well as splitting the WGN station from the WGN Superstation cable feed a while back.

and 5 stations retained it's MyNetworkTV branding while 4 others just rebranded recently.

so that being said, is this a sign that MyNetworkTV's days are number and Fox has a plan to fold the network within the next 2 years. i my mind, looks like Fox is about mercy kill the network that struggled for the longest time.

Don't forget KICU San Jose a secondary Fox O&O in San Francisco area its been renamed KTVU plus and that's the station that started the trend for secondary Fox Stations to have a plus in its name. But interestingly KTVU Plus is the largest Fox Owned station that does not have a My Network affiliate. In San Francisco Nexstar carries the My Network affiliate for KRON 4 and they place My Network primetime shows at late night in the Bay Area.

Well I wonder if My Network is going to Ion though given that Ion was rumored to sign a deal with Fox over affiliation deals and initially the story was on Fox yanking off their affiliation from Sinclair/Tribune stations. How much of this is really Fox trying to get Ion to take over My Network TV.

Years ago Tribune took the CW Branding off their stations that were affiliated with CW plus WPHL in Philly which runs the My Network TV programming Service.

WTXX Channel 20 in Hartford rebranded as "TXX-TV" and rebranded again as "The CT" and changed calls to WCCT-TV. Now they just go by their call sign.

WPIX Channel 11 in NYC rebranded as "PIX 11". (Pronounced Picks).

WPHL Channel 17 in Philly rebranded as "PHL 17", which I believe was their old school name from back in the day. The logo they have on PHL17.COM shows they still use the colors of the My Network TV logo.

My Network TV stopped calling themselves a "network" years ago. As they only deal with off-network repeats, they are now a "television service." Ion is pretty much the same thing.

yup and in some cases the FOX O&O station delays said programming. WFTC (My29 errr FOX9+) ;) right now has My Network from 8-10 (instead of the usual 7-9 Central time). In a week they move it even further to 9-11pm except for Fridays when they show Vikings related programming so that pushes the 2nd half to 3am (!!!).

KCOP, Los Angles, CA: Still My13
WWOR, New York City, NY: Still My9
I dont see these being renamed as in the other examples we are dealing with the My Network was a UHF number (branding).

maybe your right, maybe with the spectrum action, Fox could just shut these channels down and move them over as a subchannel to their Fox O&O stations, i could see KDFI shut down and move over as KDFW 4.2 on OTA in the future too.

WXSP never took my brand other than the colors they went with The X and WXSP TV at the bottom their sister station WOTV you're watching My ABC WOTV their now into the 4 women for a few years now since the Lin TV days.

Is the "Plus" thing really a trend, or just what Fox did in the San Francisco Bay Area? It makes sense with the Bay Area duopoly because KTVU has had a lot of respect as a Bay Area broadcaster since way before it was a Fox affiliate, then more recently an O&O. So since KICU was purchased to make it a duopoly (under Cox ownership, IIRC), branding them together made a lot of sense.

Well I seen other threads where other secondary Fox stations are also getting the plus brand like KICU. It just happens to be that KICU is the earliest Fox O&O to get this brand before Fox 9+ Minnesota and Fox 10 Xtra in Phoenix got the brand.

San Francisco- KRON4 (My TV) is now prime time news 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. 11pm they run a Law and Order:SVU, maybe other MyTV shows. I have not seen them referred as MyKRON

Well yes but KRON is the largest MyTV affiliate not owned by Fox though. However its the largest station owned by Nexstar.

I don't think KRON has ever used 'My 4' unlike many of the MNTV affiliates in the past. Always was 'KRON 4'.

KAUT 43 in Oklahoma City was a MyNetworkTV affiliate September 5, 2006-September 14, 2012. When the station joined MyNetworkTV, it branded as "OK 43". On April 11, 2011, KAUT rebranded as "[KAUT] Freedom 43 TV".

KRON 4 has always use KRON even in their NBC days can't believe that NBC was outbid and didn't get KRON back in 99. Surprise that Fox hasn't tried and taken away MYNet TV from KRON I think Fox owns another TV station in SF.

FOX owns its charter affiliate KTVU 2, Oakland, and sister station KICU 36, San Jose, since October 8, 2014.

KICU had a secondary affiliation with NBC (2008-2009, 2012-2014).

Among the station groups interested in acquiring KICU was NBC Television Stations, after NBC was outbid by Young Broadcasting in November 1999.
NBC "...would ultimately reach an affiliation deal with San Jose-based WB affiliate KNTV (channel 11), after then-owner Granite Broadcasting Corporation (from which NBC would later acquire KNTV) on February 18, 2000."
