Fox Sports' Chris Myers Apologizes For Correlating Nashville Flood With Katrina

Earlier this week, Myers appeared on Dan Patrick's radio show, and when the topic of the recent flooding in Nashville came up, Myers - who used to work at New Orleans' WWL-TV - said the following:

"I thought the people in Tennessee, unlike and I’m not going to name names. When a natural disaster hits people were not standing on a rooftop trying to blame the government, okay, they helped each other out through this... without making a big deal out of it and I think that’s a good thing..."

The comments drew the ire of New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who accused Myers of "being divisive and reckless."

Myers has since apologized for his remarks.

I've never been a staunch supporter of Myers, as he more often than not puts his foot in his mouth.....this time, I'm willing to make an exception.

Nashville got very ....very little press regarding its people compared to Katrina. New Orleans had days of warning before the water hit. Nashville..not so much.

Yes the 'gubment' dropped the ball on Katrina...and after all these years the locals are still whining...well the ones that stayed and were'nt killed by the looters.... Hopefully Uncle Sam will be able to step in and help Music City USA.

How does something like that stay on radio? He sounds like a mouth for hire. Just like a street walker, if you pay him enough money he'll read anything into the mike. He's always pro LA, Pro Yankee, supporting steroid cheats and blabbering about whatever his corporate masters dictate. A few years ago he was on a Fox Sports Radio show with a former NFL player, whose name I can't recall, when Myers wouldn't shut up about Dale E, Jr. Every other word out of Myers' hole was about Jr. Jr this, Jr that. The co host attempted to move on, but Myers was fixated on Jr. His co host asked Myers why was he constantly mentioning anything and everything about Jr, who hadn't won any races and spent less than 5 seconds talking about the actual winner of the race? Myers made some silly, standard corporate comment about 'giving the people what they want'. The co host complained some more, then asked Myers if he was paid for talking about a loser, then threatened to walk off of the program if Myers continued the Jr topic marathon, (which had been taking place since the beginning of the NASCAR season). Awkward silence followed for about a minute, then the first word out of Myers mouth was about Jr. The co host was never heard from again and never reappeared on the show. I don't remember the name of the show or of the co host. Does anyone else remember this?

So "true" is now "divisive and reckless?" Dang.

I don't think New Orleans residents were standing on their roofs to shame the government--at the time, I kinda think they were up there so they wouldn't drown.

Further, Myers should explain how he knows (or why he believes) the folks in Nashville are any more hardworking, tax-paying, or 'legal' Americans than folks in the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts. Then again, maybe Myers shouldn't say anything else at all, lest anyone think he might have meant something else way more ugly.

(Whoops. Too late.)

Umm....Could someone enlighten me as to why this is being discussed on the TELEVISION???????? There is a RADIO board for this ya know!!!!!

Cheers :D

I was contemplating posting this to the Sports radio board, but since Myers is mostly a personality on Fox Sports television, I posted it here.

The word was "blame." Not "shame."

Hard to "shame" anyone while you're on your roof avoiding death.
Still, while you're doing that, it's easy to "blame" people and things for your situation.

Bomani Jones seems to think that a lot.
