Here's an interesting story I read over the day. Apparently, FOX's power is so pervasive that even FIFA, which is no slouch when it comes throwing its influence around, is dancing to their tune. Accordingly, it was learned during MLS Cup that FOX wants FIFA to force MLS to switch from a spring-fall schedule to a fall-spring schedule, which would be similar to how most domestic leagues in Europe schedule. It sounds to me like they were not pleased that they lost their rights to Tier 2 MLS national games to NBC and want it back but on their terms. Well, I don't think the league is anywhere close to ready to make such a radical switch, as the negatives could outweigh the positives. FOX should just be happy with EPL and Champions League, as they did very little to raise MLS' profile.
