fox25 morning news beats the big national breakfast shows

The article doesn't fare well for CBS4, which despite a great primetime lineup has newscasts that make viewers change the channel. At least their noon news hasn't taken a hit from the departure of Liz Walker, clearly The Price is Right works as a good lead-in.

Interesting that WHDH is doing so well with the 11pm despite the poor NBC lineup. But will it change with Todd out the door?

yes, you're right on the money there. price is right is a huge
lead-in for them. a lot of elderly viewers in that time period.

hard to tell right now. remember 7tabloid is not about personalities
but more about flash, shocking content and 5-second soundbytes. there's
obviously demand for what they do and how they do it, that's why they do it.
but their 11pm numbers are down from a year ago so nbc's crappy prime
is indeed having an impact on their ratings. february sweeps will be gold for
them because of the olympics and figure skating, but by may sweeps they'll
back to reality. out of the apprentice, nbc's prime is just horrendous.
may be they should fill it up with 3 hours of dateline hosted by katie couric.

Re: Fox 25 morning news beats the big national breakfast shows (in men from 18 to 49)

The success WFXT-25's morning news has had between 7 and 9 A.M. is really not too surprising, although I thought it would not have taken place for at least another year.

In some other cities, local morning news show from 7 to 9 A.M. (usually, but not always) on Fox stations often rank number-one against the network morning shows.

I believe local morning shows are number-one between 7 to 9 A.M. in Washington, Dertoit, Milwakuee, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Miami, Dallas, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Except for Phoenix (where the #1 morning news show is on independent KTVK-3), I believe in all these cities, such shows are on Fox-owned or affiliated stations.

Of course, on the West Coast, local morning news shows between 7 and 9 A.M. have one major advantage: they are live, whereas the network morning shows are usually shown in California on a three-hour delay.

And in New York, Fox-owned WNYW-5's "Good Day New York" is usually a very strong second between 7 and 9 A.M., neck-and-neck with "Good Morning America" and not too far behind "Today".

One note: I thought that the prime demographic targets for morning news shows before 8 A.M. (both local and network) were both men and women between 18 and 49. After 8, the target audience becomes women.

Re: Fox 25 morning news beats the big national breakfast shows (in men from 18 to 49)

I remember the debate that 25 shouldn't do the "morning news" show using 'LVI's old show as a reference. Fox is a "Top 3" network now (NBC should be demoted. lol)...WB is not.

I have to say though, I really do miss WB56 in the Morning. That was a funny show...a little less predictable...bring back Darin Adams!
