Fox's Anchorwoman starts filming next month at CBS19 in Tyler

Mr. C.....

So far, the few times I've done any fill-in work, its been for stations that have name-like monikers such as Warm, Ocean, Mountain, Coast, Clear, The Q, Sun, etc...so I didn't have to worry about the calls.

I had a feeling that was the case

Can't understand why CBUF/Le Premiere' Chaine' won't return my calls. Just because it caters to the French-Canadian market is no reason to shut me out. Geeez, its like they have a different word for everything!

I don't, either. A man with your vocal talents would be able to don the French accent well and they'd never know the difference. Maybe they've reached their allotment of calls across the border or something. ;D

So, has Miss Anchorwoman actually starting anchoring yet?

I think they're waiting until they install the pole in the studio. ;)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Snoman's funny!

And, that was quite hilarious, too. I applied to CTV in Surrey, BC about a year ago. I never heard back from them (didn't figure I would). I was just dying for a cup of Tim Horton's Coffee. ;D

Well, come on up here to central Ohio. The weather's GREAT and there's Tim Horton's locations all over the place.

I actually just turned down a job in Cincinnati. My best friend works for the NBC station there. Something about being a Steeler fan in the heart of Browns/Bengals country, makes me nervous. And, I only like the Buckeyes, when they're playing Texas. But, yeah I know Tim Horton's is all over the place there. They also have them up by my folks in Connecticut. It's great coffee.

Do/Will they have a neutered news set they will use?

Just saw a news story on their website and saw that the set and mic flags had indeed been neutered.

The News-Journal story is mainly "The World According to Hurley." The piece said little other than "they" had begun to put segments (of the farce) in the can.

Hurley is quoted as saying he's "sure she can do it." What constitutes
"it," Phil?

LOL I thought it was a bit too inflated for a newspaper writer to have written it. Might as well have been a KYTX press release...complete with their letterhead and all.

"Inflated" ??? Whatever gave you that idea? ;D

"She wants to be the next Katie Couric."

You mean she wants to bring Television ratings for Network News to an all-time low? That's one hell of a daily double... journalistic integrity and all-time low ratings.

Exactly. The way Katie tanked doesn't make Phil's quote flattering, does it? But mercifully, unlike her network idol Ms. Jones' contract is for only 30 days.

Her debut was, shall we say, inauspicious. It'll probably be arriving on YouTube. Soon.

KYTX station president and GM Phil Hurley shrugs off the criticism, pointing Friday to the big story on cable news.

"Journalism credibility? I think that's somewhat amusing when all I see today on the cable news is Paris Hilton, nonstop," he said. "This is a TV show. It's going to be a comedy. They just chose to shoot it at our station."

That quote there is why Hurley doesn't get it! Cable news is one thing. He's NOT a cable news station. He's GM of a station that is trying to break into a market with two established local news operations, one of them that pulls 30-50 shares for everyone of their newscasts. That market is mostly made up of people that find that Church and Family are the most important things, and wouldn't even think about watching anything to do with Paris Hilton in it. And, if he thinks the Tyler COC wants this kind of publicity, he's sadly mistaken... they don't. I know people at both Tyler and Longview COC's, from my days up there. They don't like stuff like this, because it doesn't represent the area well. You think they want Tyler put on the national map for a bikini model/WWE wrestler chick?! No, their roses yes... azalea trail yes... bikini model/WWE wrestler turned anchor... no.

One of the last sacred grounds of integrity in local television is the local newsroom, so I guess I would say I'm disappointed to see a station, much less one in our own community, that has evidently sold its integrity," said Brad Streit, vp and GM for KLTV-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tyler.

My good friend, Brad is right here. As I said before, if I were an anchor/reporter at KYTX, I would be offended and I would leave as soon as possible. Because as soon as she hits the airwaves, their journalistic credibility goes right out the window. And, shortly after "Anchorwoman" airs their final episode, people around the country will forget all about Tyler and the show. However, the good folks of Tyler and Northeast Texas will not forget about this "stunt", and will remember KYTX as the station that sold its integrity for a bikini model show. It's all about knowing your market. And, Phil has shown after all this time, he still doesn't get it.
