Fox's Anchorwoman starts filming next month at CBS19 in Tyler

And very true, at that. As I said before, "...better suited to a hootchie-kootchie promotion than to a news product."

Hurley may think he's starting a trend,. but it isn't likely at all.

In my opinion, Hurley thinks he's getting paid for this. Beyond that, I'm not sure there's much else. His news team already includes a Miss Texas and a dog. What more intergrity is there to harm?

Couldn't Phil Hurley stoop any lower other than the underground sewer? It appears that CBS19 has just demoralized broadcast journalism as we speak at this writing.

BUT WAIT!!! I just had a thought: How about if KYTX switch network affiliations with KFXK. 19 would be Fox and 51 would be back to CBS (just like that from the old KLMG years)? But then again, with 51, that would create a conflict with Shreveport's CBS powerhouse at KSLA-12. Oh well, I tried.

If Hurley screws up something THIS immoral at 19, be on the lookout for a massive witchhunt. Church groups, the FCC.....Hell 19 would may as well go independent.

If CBS had any common sense, they would put a stop to this right now. You've got one of their affiliates involved in a production for a rival network. I would give KYTX a choice between staying a CBS affiliate or going through with this garbage.

It probably would never happen, but imagine this: CBS yanking the affiliation and giving it to 54. Then Hurley could go slummin' with The CW.

I for one hope that never happens. I do not want to see CBS on 54. Aside from their awful newscast, KYTX seems to be on the ball with everything else. First in ET with HD, just upgraded the power of their HD signal and added 5.1 surround sound. 54 is a second-rate station with less signal and NO HD capability. They don't even have a standard def digital signal up yet. CBS would be nuts to give the affiliation to 54.

I don't think that it will come to that, but if CBS were to yank KYTX's affiliation, I think it more likely that they would give it to KFXK, then KYTX could go with FOX, who they seem to be in bed with already.

FOX is a very desirable affiliation in this part of the country, mainly because of NFC/Cowboys football and NASCAR. Hmmmm, beginning to think that maybe Hurley has ulterior motives here. Maybe he is trying to get the FOX affiliation? Just something to ponder.

Aside from Lauren Jones, what makes their newscast so aweful? Between the chucklefest at 7 and the snoozefest over at 56, it seems to achieve a nice middle ground. IMHO, of course.

Nothing, and that's the point. They had a really nice start. I mean their talent isn't the best. Sure, they're a little rough around the edges, but they were off to a nice start. And, then they went and threw their credibility under the bus with all this Anchorwoman B.S. They have a nice facility, some nice toys the other two don't have, a decent staff. It's just a shame that they will be known from now on, as the station that did this. Sure most folks will forget about it, but there will always be those one or two people that will bring it up and everyone will remember it again. That is the shame of it all. I thought their newscast was pretty good. I've always liked Bryan Houston as an anchor (I don't know why he's not anchoring their 5, 6, & 10, but that's my opinion).

And, I'll take that "chucklefest" at KLTV anyday of the week. I work in a Top 10 Market, and I'll trade my two anchors and the weatherman for Joe Terrell or Clint Yeatts, Gillian Sheridan, and Mark Scirto. I've seen many newscasts in many markets and outside of the team of Chris Marrou, Albert Flores, and Dan Cook at KENS/San Antonio, back in the 80's & 90's, I'll take that KLTV team over just about anyone else. Their banter is not fake or forced. They are the same off the camera as they are on camera and if you look at a lot of newscasts, you can smell the cheesiness through the screen. Not so with them. That is a good group of talent for that market.

The Lauren Jones escapade as a stunt within iteself is designed for failure. That's a given, but it's going to be a news promtional/programming failuire all the worse. Other KYTX anchors are trying to ignore the sandbox play pen but find the collective public disdain for what's going on almost too mucn to overcome.

Phil Hurley has overlooked one important point: despite his all-knowing (and misguided) attitude, the people of East Texas neither forgive nor forget--especially at sweeps time.

"Anchorwoman" wrapped up filming (or taping) today...supposedly. One wonders if there will be any pick up scenes done away from the KYTX studios, and Hurley's gaze, that could drastcally alter tne tone and nature of the series.

Regardless of what happens next, it's all about to hit the fan.

Good point nuzguy. It is FOX, after all. I'm expecting something that resembles "The Simple Life," but even less watchable.

Yes, indeed, the aftermath. If Hurley's intent was to "whip up a storm," he succeeded. But it may turn out to be the wrong kind of storm.
