Fred Milano of the original Belmonts that backed Dion a a couple of early hits died at age 71 of Stomach cancer.....The Belmonts that split with Dion early after a couple of hits , were estranged from Dion, and that escalated when Dion was Inducted into the Rock N' Roll hall Of fame without the Belmonts. The Del-Satins (Later Became Brooklyn Bridge) anonymousy backed Dion on more Hits than the Belmonts.
The Belmonts had many, many recordings during their career, the majority did not chart , but still have become staples on Doo-Wop shows accross the country.

Should Dion been inducted on his own , or with the Belmonts, or even with the Del-Satins??

I vote for Dion and the Belmonts together......when I think of Dion, I think of the Belmonts.

Perhaps "Dion & The Belmonts" should be one inducted act and Dion solo the other. Backup groups rarely get noticed (possible exception: The Jordonaires who backed early Elvis).

Personally, I have enjoyed D&TB much more than Dion's solo stuff.

Was this another one of those occasions when the media got it wrong, or maybe someone intentionally fed misinformation to the media? That happened in the case of the death of Linda McCartney, in which they initially got her date, and even place of death wrong.
