"Free Talk Live" Returns to Sarasota on WSRQ 106.9 & 1220

In 2004 Sarasota's live-and-local "Free Talk Live" was originating from WSRQ AM when we entered our syndication deal. Now under competent local ownership and management, WSRQ has brought us back, for six nights a week, Monday through Friday from 8-10pm, LIVE. It's great to be back on-the-air, and back on FM too, where FTL was originally created.

Thanks to all who listened back-in-the day, and all who may tune in now. 8)

Back on FM? Please.... a translator with a few watts and lots of interference is not a way to brag my friend.

You are my friend? You sure don't sound like one.

Congratulations, Ian. I'm very happy to hear you are returning to Sarasota on both AM and FM. I wish you the very best and much success!

Congrats Ian. You guys sound good, even on the FM Signal since they fixed the tower issues with the FM. I can now hear the FM signal great in Sarasota and alot better in Bradenton. Also it sounds like they fixed the AM problems as well. With all of the Issues they had at WSRQ, I think they are finally going in the right direction. Programming is good their. No one in this area has great programming but they sound alot better then they have in the past.

Billy16 is correct. Since peeking out over the tower, the signal is drastically improved. Power is not a problem since it is now has a metro wide coverage.

Go Rays!

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

I knew Ian when he was just a wee little radio intern at 107.9YNF in the late 90's (?). I was the night guy on WSRZ and the OM of WSPB then. Ian and I got to talkin one day and I asked him what his goals were in radio and he said "I'm going to try to get girls to let me hump them by offering them movie passes and t-shirts from the YNF truck". I wished him lucked and off he went. Six weeks later I notice that a years worth of movie passes are missing and there's an invoice for over $2000 for more YNF t-shirts we didn't order. 500+ passes, 200 t-shirts, he even tried telling chicks he was Jeff Blazy but still, no girl would let him hump her. Couple more days later I see him again and ask him if he had changed his radio goals. He said "I wanna do talk radio". I just laughed.... for about 10 minutes. I told him to start practicing reading some liner cards, that was all he'd ever be good at.

And now Ian is doing a great syndicated talk show five nights a week in Sarsota, weekends on WFLA and more.

And all from the excellent reverse psychology I used on him telling him he would suck so that he'd work even harder to get that talk show.

Ok I made about 60% of all that up but I'm saying which 40% is true. LOL
Ian - congrats bro.
