You know what is amazing, is that WLW has a live studio at or near the area where a major or important news story takes place. Every time when Bill Reinhart (apologize if it is misspelled) signs off from a remote location, it happens to be in a broadcast-quality studio. For instance, the afternoon of the running gun battle on I-75, every time Bill signed off from his taped report, he used the tag line, "from Evondale, Bill Rinehart, News Radio 700 WLW." That WLW doesn't spare a dime, to bring us the most up to date news, do they? And here I thought they were laying off longtime employees because of a financial crunch, but still have the money for remote, broadcast-quality studio's, for the award-winning news reporters. We are lucky to have such a top notch broadcast company in Clear Channel, that care so much for their listeners, that they provide top of the line equipment for the news gathering/news reader staff.
Actually, it absolutely drives me nuts to hear this guy, act like he is reporting FROM that location during that particular taped report. Maybe it is nit-picking, but it is misleading and completely inaccurate. He may have been at that location earlier in the day to get the sound bites used in the report, but he is NOT reporting from that location, at the time of his taped report. If he was on a marti or even like the old days with a phoned in report, it would be OK to use that tag line. But after you come back to the station and re-record the exact same reports you did by phone earlier in the day, it is no longer OK, to use the same tag line. Quit trying to make it sound like you are still on the scene with the report.
