Future of Beasley in the Las Vegas market?

Over the years, every group in Las Vegas has had upward and downward trends....however, I don't think any cluster has maintained the low levels that Beasley has for any extended amount of time.

Their stations are a train wreck......KKLZ was only replaced as the lowest rated FM station in the market by another in the company (KSTJ) during this latest trend.

Their top performing station (KCYE) is getting pummeled by the legendary country station in the market (KWNR) after putting up a brief fight during its initial months on the air.

Their latest station to sign on (KDWN) is only pulling modest numbers after being acquired for a boatload of money.

Their newest station (KBET) hasn't even successfully launched yet as its still broadcasting a test signal.

How long will the parent company continue to accept this pattern of lousy performance? Will stations switch formats? Will there be a bloodbath in the building? Will Beasley give up on the market and divest the propertys?

Common sense would tell anyone that change (of some form or another) has to happen there soon.....however, there has been little common sense coming out of this cluster in the last several years, so I guess its anyone's guess.

It's true, since Harry Williams left Beasley, GM Tom Davis has done a lot wrong, but a few things right....at least he was smart enough to hire Rick Kelly for mornings on Coyote(whos night numbers are through the roof since KWNR is automated, and Stunt Runt is no longer) He did finally get rid of overpaid, over negative Kim Kelly...now for things he did wrong....Star should sound like the HD-2 channel they have! the format change was burned out and tired to AOR(all over the road) Firing Dan Lea at KKLZ was the BIGGEST mistake!(I do like the afteroon guy though) The new Star STILL plays titles they share with KKLZ.Funny how MIX has done MUCH BETTER since Star's change...I thought at least KDWN would simulcast the 10pm news with Fox 5...KXNT is very vulnerable. I am sure there's more...so feel free to chime right in!

??? Star's HD2 channel is simply their tired old 80's and more format...from the music all the way down to Sam O'Niel's imaging. Their HD2 was "The Star Party"; but they switched their 80's format from the main signal to their HD2 when they changed formats to hot AC. You really think that Star should go back to their former format? It wasn't working before. Why do you think it would work better now?

And I will say that The Point is thrilled to have Kim Kelly. She is one of the most talented jocks in the city. You will hear an all-new and very refreshed Kim Kelly on The Point. Give her a listen and see what you think!!

Maybe I puched in at a different time on the HD cause I heard some "flavor" records I never heard on Star. Star was working much better than the abortion they have now.
I did listen to Kim Kelly and have only heard liners, which means either it's automated or The Point shut her up. God knows she couldnt shut up when she was on the air at KKLZ. Too bad Lark is on at night and not in the day. My kids and I miss hearing her there.

whatever has happened to KBET-AM 790 ?

Those who have newsreaders should visit the rec.ba.breoadcast group for a thread about a well known engineer who found the 790 station running a stuck CD for 2 days, not going to night pattern and having no public file when he dropped by the staiton... well worth reading. This can also be accessed by Google Groups.

According to All Access, they are launching a Classic Country format on 790. That should be good for a 0.3 share.

If it was on FM I think it would become the highest rated station in the Beasley cluster.
