Future Of Talk Radio In Dallas-Fort Worth

KLIF was programmed as if it were the front nine on the Masters that TV doesn't show.

I'm a fan of analogies, and THAT's a good one. I think they had the right idea, and many of the right talents. But the overall entertainment value wasn't quite there. If you think about it, that station was an evolutionary bridge between old school Larry King talk, and the kind of stuff Limbaugh has perfected.

Kevin McCarthy's Friday joke and talent hour was really good.

Joke and talent hour was Corny and outdated. It was the same old boring callers every friday. Old Hat. Glad it's gone. Reminds me of old fm morning shows doing the same crap. Women talk? No way. Won't work. It would be crazy to get rid of Oreilly, Beck, Savage. They would eat Cafe's lunch. I'm sure you "Progressives" think Women talk is the thing. Go ask Air America and all those boring women talkers. Laura Inghram/Dr. Laura are great though.

Tested makes a good point when he talks about KSKY needing a local show with a host that can draw numbers. We all know Mike Gallagher can't do that, whether he's the "8th most prominent talk show host in America" or not, he's not getting the job done. The station should look into a few more live in-studio local shows during the week and stop relying on The Dirt Doctor to pay the bills on the weekend.

KRLD needs to cut some of the salary fat and hire some better talent. The weather guy makes all the money over there. Imagine what can be done if you freed up some of that money. He doesn't do much anyways, seeing as the afternoon news people have to rely on CBS 11 to get up to date weather forecasts. The midday show runs out of steam after hour two. I'm not saying the first two hours are good by any stretch of the imagination, but they lose it after that.

KSKY will never make the changes . As long as they share the same building as the Salem Radio Network, accept the fact SRN dominates their programming, pitiful as it is.

Word is that KSKY is the model for all Salem stations. The problem is that corporate weasels in another state keep regulating what is considered programming. Most programs on this network are syndie and the money behind them is rediculous. Too bad that the hosts are terrible. Like Medved, Hewitt and Prager. These guys have been in radio awhile and I wonder why. Could it be the $$$$$$. Just because someone pays to be on the air doesnt mean they are good. I always believe in good programming will bring sponsors. You cant force feed the listener to like some horrible host. I guess they cant hear the complaints over the CHA-CHING!. Just an observation.

I happen to like Prager's style. Easy, Smooth and intellectual on the ears. Not a bombastic blowhard like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

I've always thought Gallagher was empty and uninteresting. But I saw him filling in for Hannity on H&C the other night, and I can add goofy-looking to his list of drawbacks. He always looks a little too happy for the situation, and the guy has very creepy and disturbing bulging eyes that make you think of a perv left alone in a daycare center.

Praeger has a good voice but thats where it stops. He is constantly talking about how Palestinians want the destruction of Israel.Gee what a bulletin! It's only been going on for 58 years. Hugh Hewitt is another who is in love with himself. He blatantly at one time, told a broadcast group, that his show was THE BEST talk show ever.More browbeat the democrats. Mike Medved should kiss and make up with Jeffrey Lyons and go back to criticing movies. Gallagher is acure for sleep apnea.
KSKY's Pd is very anal in his ways, and until he realizes it,nothing will progress.

What do you expect him to say? [EDIT] I would do the same thing.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

All the Cha-Ching can be pretty deafening, especially when the sales department is weak.
