Fybush: Randolph VT's WCVR to VPR; sister AM to Real Country

Scott Fybush reports that Randoph VT's WCVR 102.1 (and a translator in Hanover NH) have been sold
to VT public radio, while WTSJ AM 1320 has gone to Bob Vinikoor and will be Real Country (they ran that
years ago, as WWWT I think)

The weekly local newspaper, The Randolph Herald, reports that VPR will be using their Classical music service, sometime around early summer, on WCVR-FM. The station will continue to air the current "Classic Rock" format until the changeover occurs. The story also states that Ray Kimball, a partner in Koor Communications which is purchasing the sister station, WTSJ-AM, says, "Listeners will always find, 24 hours a day, a real person at the Randolph Real County 1320 little radio station on Route 66."

Im visiting at Killington and found V 102 (WCVR) and have not heard a station as good as this ever. I cant find a web site so I can stream this station when I return home to Canada. From what im reading the format is changing,,,, if this is true is there another station that is the same.

Makes me wonder if Ray Kimball will run both stations or just the Randolph one... either way WTSJ is in good hands... I like WCFR a lot... I just wish they would finish a classic 80's AT40 every once in a while.

Call me a skeptic, but I find it hard to believe that a small-town daytimer AM (with nighttime flea power) is going to be staffed 24/7.

I would be too but I believe his other AM stations with flea power at night are staffed a majority of the time. I wonder if they will look for a translator. Koor has done that with WCNL and WCFR. Is Great Eastern still using 100.9 in Claremont?

I knew Killington induced good feelings, but calling V102 the best he's ever heard makes me wonder where this guy is from!

The fact that we hear people say they love VT radio is a testament to the kind of talent that comes up country and what can happen when broadcasters nurture that talent and give them freedom.
