The Georgia Radio Hall of Fame will honor 8 radio professionals as Legacy Inductees at their 5th Anniversary Induction Ceremony on October 15, 2011. They are: James Brown, Ernie Harwell, Jack Hurst, Pepper Martin, Bill McCain, Dick Meeder, Ed Mullinax, and Ben Porter. The 2011 Founders and Directors Award recipient is Jim Wesley. Also announced were the candidates for Career Achievement Induction during the same program. See them here www.grhof.com. Voting to select eight of the candidates by the members of the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame begins June 1, 2011. The names will be announced the evening of the ceremony. The event will take place at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center. The master of ceremonies will be Emmy awards winning actor and Sirius radio personality, Jay Thomas. George Mason-Dixon will get is someday.
The names of legacy inductees reads like a who's who of Georgia radio professionals reaching back to the days of Bill Drake's WAKE through the legend of mid state radio, Ben Porter, and down to the coast for Savannah's one and only Burl Womack. The list of candidates for career achievement induction will make it tough for voters to select only three worthy names. Again, a nice cross section of the state's outstanding radio people. Topping it off, Jay Thomas will be the master of ceremonies. Hope he tells the lone ranger Story!
im w rhubarb fan. george mason dixon - not only one of the longest running georgia broadcasters...but he's still at it, and reborn in talk up in gainesville where wide 107, lit 106, y 106, eagle 106, oldies piece of krap 106 started.

gmd may have nine lives !When James Brown owned WEBB in Baltimore, he pretty much destroyed it. It had been an R&B station for years and had been good. At one time while Brown owned it, the station sounded like it was coming through a telephone line, and that continued for months and months. Brown did editorials, but that's another story.
