Gadsden Radio - WGMZ / WAAX Selling or Sold?

Rumors have been flying left and right concerning Gadsden station's WGMZ (Z-93.1) and WAAX (News Talk 570) the two have been rumored for sale by Clear Channel. So now the latest rumor on the street is.... the two stations have been sold to Dave Hedrick owner/operator of cross-town WGAD-AM. Can anyone shed any light on the deal? Is it true that Hedrick has already bought the two or is he is the process? Format changes on the way? Will the staff stay or go? How does this guy operate?

No application has been filed with the FCC as this morning for any sale or transfer of control.

He used to be and still kind of is a broker. I think he focuses more on the radio station now.

Whatever happened to the FCC application to move WAAX to Birmingham (COL as Mountain Brook)? Did that all fall through?

I can't imagine there'd be substantial changes format-wise. Z93 does really well with classic hits from what I understand and WAAX has the big talk names.

[EDIT]

I figured CC's motives for moving WAAX to Birmingham entailed them possibly moving WERC down to 570 for a stronger signal. Isn't WAAX already simulcasting WERC during parts of the day, or do they just happen to use some of the same programming?

I've known the fellow since he got out of prison the first time (LOOK...some people just need killin'), and he's a TRUE professional (ask his 8th wife, if you don't believe me). He got his hands on some pictures (I haven't seen them), and he's "persuaded" them to let him pick & choose some selections from their vast portfolio. These are just the first of many. Cash money WILL change hands, but not necessarily in the expected direction. When he's got everything he wants from them, he'll probably go shopping elsewhere. He can pay if he needs to...you don't really believe that story about the snakes in the tires, do you? That's to keep the ATF folks away from that thousand gallon a day moonshine still. It's a dirty job, but SOMEBODY'S got to do it!

Stay tuned...

Jay, you know that Attalla shine is rot gut. The best is up on Sand Mountain.

As I stated in an earlier post. My uncle claims he saw a UFO at the GAD TX site when he worked there. Maybe he was into the 'shine :)
