Gainesville's Amazing disappearing, reappearing, disappearing radio station

No, the VHS station was WAJD. My older brother had a hand in setting it up. That was earlier, say around 1990.

OK, you're thinking of "Gator Rock"...Another format WAJD attempted which was Heavy Metal, and Mitch Craig liners...Kinda like SMN's "Z-Rock" at the time?

I remember the short-lived Gator Rock 1390 circa 1989. I was working with WKTK at the time. The Gator Rock format was a bit too heavy for my personal taste; However, I did occassionally listen to get an idea of the format. The only sponsor Gator Rock had, that I actually heard on-air, was the Florida Lottery. In my opinion the best format 1390 had was the combination Urban / Jazz as Magic 1390 circa 1983 / 1984. I also enjoyed the soft rock on 14K from the late 70s before the former WAKA graduated to its short-lived CHR / New Wave circa 1980 / 1981. Adult Radio AM 14 wasn't bad, either, circa 1981 / 1982 just prior to 14K becomming Magic 1390.
