Galaxy Radio Now In Scotland, Next Week In The Southeast

Fans of the Rhythmic leaning Galaxy network can rejoice in the fact that the station can now be heard in Scotland's major cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow (formerly X-FM and Beat 106).

Next week Galaxy also comes to the southeastern portion of the UK as it takes over Power FM 103.2 in the Southampton-Portsmouth-Bournemouth area

You can listen live to both stations via their respective websites.

Whoopedoo! Don't you just love radio consolidation?

These can be done because the format of the other stations are similar to what Galaxy is now and therefore doesn't require OFCOM to review things. What they do is put on the obligatory minimum "live and local" stuff, and network the heck out of the rest of it.

Mark.

Galaxy is expected to succed in Scotland, big time. Let's face it - X-FM was a cool station, but its ratings were disappoint to say the least, and the programming was largely based out of London and Manchester.
It'll be sad to see Power FM go in the South, but the transition has already begun as far as the music goes.

I'd take the Galaxy network over the hideously cookie-cutter "Today's Best Mix" stations that plagued the UK a few years ago (which were by and large formerly great Top 40 stations).
