Well after the layoffs, they have the money saved to do it!! And London does not pay all that well anyway (or have good benefits!)
A friend of mine high in radio (used to be a CE in Dallas) told me 15 years ago that this would start happening in TV much like radio....but it would take some time...well, that time has come it seems. TV stations being traded like commodities....and people losing their jobs with no other place to go......
My honest opinion.....their acquisition of KYTX could possibly be seen as a serious threat to KLTV and it's long-standing dominance in the Tyler-Longview Market. Raycom is a big company....but Gannett is bigger. KYTX would have more resources to pick up the bigger syndicated programs and to increase their local news presence.
