This is pretty funny. One of my clients was looking for Barack Obama song parodies for their morning show, so I did my standard internet search. And to my amazement, I actually found one that Gary did (or his producer Dan the Engineer did as listed on the credits) Turns out Gary has been cranking out some pretty funny song parodies, found 2 on YouTube, (the other was 99 words for ******* to Nenas 99 Red Balloons) Both videos are well done, and the songs are funny as hell..
The thing that dawned on me is, why don't other morning shows do this, great way to get the Show and station name out on the internet. Garys thinking outside the box because hes forced to,not being on a radio station anymore, but I think that this would be a novel approach for other stations to embrace. I've actually recommended it to a few of my clients. The communications world has changed, and as long as there is new technology, we should embrace it instead of fight it.
Curious to know if any other PDs in this market are employing the same strategy? I know other DJs use MySpace, but I think the time has come where Terrestrial Radio needs to use the Internet as a big tool box to boost listnership.
Just my 2 cents..but here are the vids to check out... I think thats a brilliant move on Garys part, maybe we could all steal a page out of his playbook, I know I am...
